Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach spoke with the media following the first round of the NFL Draft and said they purposely did not bring LSU cornerback Mansoor Delane in for a visit for fear they'd lose him.

Instead, the Chiefs met with Delane virtually via Zoom.

Veach added that Delane was their 'top guy three or four weeks ago,' but they were worried that the New Orleans Saints would target him, so they traded up to select him.

Mansoor Delane was only here for a year, but man did he flash. He can do it all and always seemed so poised out there. He is going to be a star. Once a Tiger always a Tiger too, we will be rooting for him. Let’s GEAUX Mansoor!

Yep, poised is a great word. He doesn't panic whatsoever.

This was literally predicted in a mock draft with a trade

When they traded up I wondered if it was because of the Saints. Really wish we could've got him. I think he'll be as good a pro as he was in college at LSU.

The only way I would have liked this story more is if it hadn’t included the Saints!

Mickey Loomis is the best GM the Chiefs have ever had.

After losing their top two corners, everyone in the universe thought they were going to draft a corner with their first pick.

Love that the Chiefs have jumped us for both Mahomes and now Delane. Awesome.

Think we were going with Tyson regardless, but luckily the Chefs anyway

I think this is just a made up story. By all accounts Washington was the threat to take him. I think the Saints were going WR all the way.

Agree. Looney Loomis doesn’t draft Tigers.
