LSU landed at No. 12 is Sporting News’ Preseason Top 25, which was released this week. Here is what they had to say about the Tigers in 2016.
quote:

The pressure is on Les Miles, and he knows it. The Tigers brought in Wisconsin defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, and LSU has nine starters returning on both sides of the ball. Heisman contender Leonard Fournette is the centerpiece, but the Tigers need more from quarterback Brandon Harris. Ole Miss and Alabama both visit Tiger Stadium this year. Miles is working with another roster flush with future NFL talent. He needs to deliver this time.

So we have 9 starters returning on both sides of the ball, a heisman contender at RB and a roster flush with future NFL talent, but he ranks us at #12? Does not make sense.

For a team returning some 18 starters and depth for days 12 seems a bit

It's a preseason poll. Relax. What matters is where we rank at the end of the season. The goal is to be in the playoffs. We get there and we just might be looking at a shiny new trophy in LSUs trophy case.

But didn't you hear? It's up to us, the fans on a sports message board, to help the team be ranked higher. If we criticize anything as less than perfect then we're hurting our preseason ranking by influencing voters!

Ohio State, Baylor, Ole Miss, and Michigan St being ahead of LSU is the dumbest sh** I've seen recently.

Michigan St final game along with 10 starters returning must be why they are ranked so high.

I can say this very truthfully about the negatigers who think their criticism some how helps the team, in the real world you give our enemies ammunition, in this case lower rankings which play to the seasonal ending rankings !

The fact that some people still believe that a team thrives or struggles based solely on the opinions of its fans is so stupid I don't know where to begin. Forget the end of last season, forget persistent QB issues, forget the lackluster 2015 defense, nope-it's all a message board's fault. I mean Wow.

"think their criticism some how helps the team"

Not a soul has ever thought this ever.

Based on talent we're easily top 5. But I agree with their assessment, though we should be top 10.

It's going to be the same thing as every year. Then there will be the cry of "we are too young"

The Cub fans are made fun of for a reason.

It won't be the same because there will not be cries of "we are too young" because we will not be too young. Some players actually returned. Feels weird.
