Former LSU head coach Ed Orgeron is joining Lane Kiffin's staff as a special assistant to recruiting and defense.

According to the term sheet obtained by The Advocate, Orgeron has signed a one-year deal and will be paid $100,000.

The deal, which runs through January 2027, will pay Orgeron $100,000. The former LSU head coach signed it on Wednesday, the day the program announced that he was returning to Baton Rouge to work as a special assistant to recruiting and defense on coach Lane Kiffin’s staff.

Orgeron can coach during games, and he’s expected to be one of the 10 assistant coaches who are allowed to make recruiting trips, according to a report from On3.

Mad respect for Coach O and that contract. I mean we all know he still has bank and that number is respectful and that tells me his heart is just simply with LSU

If he still had bank he wouldn't be going around begging for a job

I'm sure O is comfortable, so it's not about the money. He wants to be out there and prove that he can still do it, and help LSU. I admire him for doing this when he really didn't have to.

he'll more than make up for it with NIL deals lol

Yep. LSU got a steal for 100k or Coach O wants to help. Either way, it’s a win for everyone.

LSU just finished paying out O in December. Of course he has to pay his ex $8M. He is not as ‘set’ as everyone says he is but we shouldn’t have to pass a hat for him

7 months of work for $100K. Not to bad. If things turn out good, I'm sure there will be a renewal with increase.

Oh hell yeah. This works out well for everyone. Just watch, every season he will be the one to secure one or two big time recruits.

I never would've guessed it would only be $100K. Tells me that CEO just wants to be a Tiger.

One of the greatest acts of loyalty, humbleness and humility in the history of LSU football. This also speaks for the selflessness and commitment to winning Mr.
Ausberry has for the program. This exemplifies what LSU football means to the fans and the State, which makes it easier to recruit to notch athletes from all over the country.
