LSU's College Football Playoff Ranking of No.19 is too low according to many.
Crystal LoGiudice-USA TODAY Sports
The first ever College Football Playoff rankings were announced on Tuesday night and LSU was slotted at No. 19. Mark Schlabach reported in this ESPN article how many "BCS guru's" believe that LSU is better than some of the teams that are ranked ahead of them:
quote:

In fact, of the 24 teams that were ranked by both the committee and the former BCS computers, 18 were slotted within two spots of each other. The biggest discrepancy was LSU, which was ranked No. 19 by the committee and No. 12 in the BCS proxy standings.

"The way my program looks at LSU right now is they have two losses, but they lost to Mississippi State and Auburn," said [Richard] Billingsley, a stress-management expert from Hugo, Oklahoma, who still publishes his ratings online. "Conceivably, LSU could be the fourth-best team in the country. They have LSU at No. 19. I'm surprised the committee didn't look more closely at LSU's games. To me, they're a better team than a lot of the teams ranked ahead of them."
What do you think about the LSU's No. 19 ranking?

They were blown out by AU and the MSU game was more lopsided than the score indicates.

19 with two losses what's to argue about?

"The team is much improved now but the blow out loss to auburn was a killer"

That is my thought as well. It's hard to get that game out of your mind on how inept the team as a whole looked.

Bottom line, beat Bama and THAT game will be forgotten!

Fun to watch....Bama just barely escaped Arkansas with a win...(Ark gave that one away) and they beat hapless Gator, Aggie and Vols teams... If we continue to play well, the tide may certainly slip and have 4 losses in the west..They only have Miss State and Auburn left after us....Like I said, fun to watch!!

The only thing on the Tigers' minds right now should be working to beat Alabama. That's all I care about, too.

Even with more 1st and 2nd year starters/rotation players than any other top 25 team, LSU is already coming together and looking playoff ready. Even the clowns on that committee won't be able to ignore them after they take care of bama.

The computer system without the human bullshite was the most accurate actually. The computers looked skewed at this point, week 9 or so, but by the end of the year were on point. USC's bitching screwed up the BCS before we even gave it a real chance. Taking a pool of 120 teams and narrowing it down to 2 will always have discrepancies. Imagine just taking 2 teams out of the 32 NFL squads……it would be tough. Now we have 4 teams out of 120. Still doesn't work. How many time have there even been 4 legitimate contenders for the championship? The most I remember is 3 so why give a 4th team a shot? Just make the playoff between 2 and 3 and give 1 a bye.

I think maybe top twelve right now, but higher than that remains to be seen/proven. They're a young team and the next couple of years will be their's to pick like ripe plums. Let this team grow another year before tossing them into the four team mix. Next year - watch out, y'all! Les Miles and his Tigers will be untouchable!

After we beat Bama they will get it right

The polls are nothing more than chutes and ladders.

The #5 team in the country could lose to #1, 2 and 4, but still be the 5th best team, and end up unranked. Which isn't far off from what could end up happening to an SEC west team.

All I care about now is beating 'bama next week. The rest will take care of itself.

It's only week 9. Just keep improving and winning and let the rest take care of itself.

The computer polls are usually more correct than human polls anyway. My buddy Garrett is an IT whizz and he puts out his own rankings. His data picks winners 84% of the time and 75% against the spread. His ranking has LSU around 16.

At the moment LSU is ranked about right. But if they beat Alabama I look for a big jump for our Tigers. Remains to be seen.

It doesn't matter how good they are it's what they prove on the field. They got donkey rammed by the two best teams they played and barely beat an embarrassingly terrible Florida team which might as well be a loss. You think beating Kentucky and a 3 point win over Bo Wallace is enough to overcome those two laughers?

Please.

Tiger fans know this; but we also realize it's better to go into hard games as an underdog. 19th is fine with me. For now. Far from over!
