Former LSU defensive back Rickey Jefferson from St. Rose, La has signed with the New Orleans Saints, according to Josh Katzenstein with The Times-Picayune.

Jefferson played at LSU from 2013-2016 and signed with the Oakland Raiders as a free agent last April but was released by the team in September.

Payton hates LSU

I'm a diehard Saints fan and I never understood why HC Sean Payton never like to draft LSU players when LSU has the most players on NFL rosters. I also think this is not Sean Payton but Jeff Ireland and to some extent DC Dennis Allen because when Payton had a chance to draft some great LSU Tigers he elected to pass. Hopefully Ireland will have more sayso on players we pick up because since we hire him our drafts have been awesome and maybe we see a few more ex Tigers. And I'm not knocking Payton he has proven to be a great offensive mind and the HC that brought us our first and hopefully not our last SUPERBOWL and with Jeff Ireland on board helping to evaluate talent it won't be.

Payton is more likely to geaux after Ohio State players, and I hate to say it, but they have done very well with them. I hope they decide to go with more LSU players as well, but it really comes down to BPA with the Saints most of the time.

By not drafting LSU players, the coaches do not have to deal with the media/fan pressure of starting and or giving playing time to players just because they went to LSU. Its an unnecessary distraction, and the players always get more attention from fans/media if they are from LSU.

I think this is a great pick up. Very solid at lsu until he went down. Started over Battle. Good size, good speed, good tackler and good sign.
