Update:
LSU officially announced the hire of Ed Orgeron as the permanent head coach of the football team on Saturday. Per LSUSports.net:
quote:

Orgeron, a native of Larose, Louisiana, becomes the 33rd head football coach in LSU history. Orgeron, who has also served as head coach at Ole Miss and Southern Cal, is 11-4 in his Past 15 games as a head coach, which includes a 6-2 mark as interim coach at USC.

"This is a great day for LSU and for all of Louisiana," Alleva said. "We got our man and he's been here all along. Coach Orgeron has demonstrated his ability to run this program with excellence, even under difficult circumstances. Coach ‘O' earned this job.

"I worked closely with (LSU) President Alexander and board leadership throughout a very deliberate process. By the end of that process, our decision was clear. Coach Orgeron took us step by step through every aspect of his plans for this program and there was no question that he is the man to lead LSU football."

Check out Tiger Droppings posting 11/20/16 College Football Rankings Week 12; TWT LSU Beats A&M, Florida looses to Florida State and Bama, Auburn looses big to Bama, Tennessee barely beats Vandy. Who is highest ranked SEC Team for Sugar Bowl?

So no one tightened anything?

First of all, Vandyou beat Tennessee. Secondly, Auburn will still be ranked ahead of LSU and still owns the h2h.

I'll never forget the liift he gave us at SC when we needed it. He wasn't perfect, but he had heart. I hope he kicks arse at LSU. Geaux Tigers!

Thanks, LAT. A lot of our fans are sour on the hire, but I think he is going to do great things here.

Look people, we all want Herman and Fisher ahead of O, but it's clear at this point neither of them truly wants to coach at LSU. Instead of paying ridiculous amount of money to hire someone who only treats LSU as a temp stop or stepping stone, and having to worry about getting into a bidding war with another school every offseason, I would rather hire someone who truly cares about this program and appreciates this once in a life time opportunity as it is. For those O haters, stopping being so close minded and judge him based on who he was 10 freaking years ago. People can change and so can they improve. Would you rather you next employer judge you based on your performance from a decade ago instead of who you are right now? Give the man a chance and see what he can do. Like it or not, he is our head coach now. Rally behind him and cheer for his success!

Alexa Alleva just could not get it done

Agree! Agree! Agree! Well said VesperiaLSU. This is the nation where everyone gets a second chance right. I worked many different jobs before finding my niche in insurance business. Was very successful and retired at age 47. Coach O too is on the second chapter of his life and hungry for success. Give him a chance guys.

Alleva hires: Trent Johnson, Johnny Jones, Nikki Caldwell, Ogre. No top coach wants to be at LSU with Duke rape scammer Alleva running LSU athletics.
user avatar
rob6289 months
So LSU isn't a basketball school? Really? No shite. You guys who try to use hiring Nikki Caldwell as some sort of example are laughable. Who gives a damn? I bet you never go to watch the Lesbians play anyway. If you do then 99% of LSU's fanbase doesn't care. Just so you know. Lol.

Not disappointed at all. As long as Coach O gets a solid OC, LSU will be just fine.

But, he talks funny & gets confused with X & O's...not a mensa member, his wife is not chasing his black players...& the list keeps growing... Let's face it, he is our coach, so let's rally behind him and wish our team the best going forward...

What a concept.....hire a guy that truly wants the job and loves the place. Herman would've still been looking for the next job. He's a Meyer deciple people. Kick some arse coach o.
user avatar
lsusportsman289 months
Rather hire a guy who will win us a championship even if he's here a couple years, than hire a caveman who will tear our program to the ground.
user avatar
jayboy50489 months
And who is that guy you are referring to?? If it was Jimbo yes... Herman Emphatic No! Now there is a possibility that Herman may thrive in the Big12 bc they play absolutely no defense in that league but in the SEC Herman would have had no success against some of the better defenses in this league.

Some sorry arse LSU fans on here.... either get on the O-Train or get the f##%.... I know some people want the shiny new car but the shiny new car had nothing under the hood... If LSU would have hired Jimbo that would have been fine bc LSU has pro-style personnel already on campus so the transition would have been seamless. People don't understand a spread offense is not going to work in this league!! Just ask Kevin Sumlin I'm sure he'll tell ya

user avatar

Like Les or not he has a higher win percentage at LSU than Saban. Of course that's lost on you. Guys like you would rather bite your nose to spite your face. There's a reason the best coach I'm cfb history hired lane kiffin.
