Football Scoop is reporting that LSU offensive analyst Kyle Caskey is leaving Baton Rouge to join Urban Meyers' staff on the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Caskey spent the previous 11 seasons in the NFL and was with the Detroit Lions last year but was not retained when Lions transitioned to new coach Dan Campbell this offseason.

Caskey joined LSU staff in May and was working with the running back group.
quote:

Now, LSU once again will shift to filling an analyst spot as quickly as possible with its season opener just nine days away at Chip Kelly's UCLA Bruins.

Though hardly as pressing as an on-field role, the vacant position still is an important one for an LSU staff featuring three new coaches on the offensive side of the ball – including coordinator Jake Peetz and passing game coordinator DJ Mangas – and trying to help the Tigers rebound from an up-and-down 5-5- 2020 campaign.

Meh. They come, they go. NFL guy anyway. LSU was probably a stop gap. JAX needs all the help they can get.

To me this says so much about the coach. I just can’t hire someone that job jumps in 3 months It’s a waste of time training him

To be fair, I think the training program is just a 30 minute video they watch in the back office

we'll be fine. Whatever did we do before hiring analysts became a thing?

Not really. What do we pay analysts? 60k if they're lucky? If he left for an on-field job with the Jags he'll be making well over 100k. You would have done the same.

Christ. LSU's analyst cap out at about 75k a year. Is he supposed to stick around for an entire football season in some off the field pretty much anonymous position instead of taking what what is probably a on field NFL position coaching spot that probably pays twice as much, if not more? Sorry... don't give us this "my word is my honor" garbage. The only person he owes anything to is his wife and to kids. 75k isn't starving but you are taking care of your family a whole lot more if you double that. It would say he doesn't have his family's best interest if he didn't take that job regardless of when the season opens.

Can’t blame her. No great loss. If LSU’s success depends on the presence of an analyst, then the head coach probably needs to go.

High school kids committing to colleges has zero integrity nowadays, and it sounds like contracts that coaches sign with schools don’t mean shite either.

He is an analyst. He isn't allowed to coach the players. I think they will survive.
