Longtime LSU defensive back coach and top recruiter Corey Raymond is expected the join Billy Napier's staff at Florida as "assistant head coach of the defense/cornerbacks coach," according to Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports.

Raymond, a New Iberia native, played cornerback at LSU from 1987-1991 and has been the defensive back coach at LSU since 2012. He added the title of Recruiting Coordinator in March of 2020.

Does it really hurt? Maybe very temporarily

This is an unfortunate loss, but he tried to leverage his value (again) and Kelly said good luck, i believe. Raymond has held LSU hostage for years in the off-season and with culture change comes other changes. The FW hire had a lot to do with this also. LSU will be fine.

How do u know this? You may wanna think BK is some new sheriff in town. He may have begged Raymond to stay. Who knows?

Isn't Napier giving him the AHC title? That may have meant more to him than anything else.

Corey did not create DBU people, he inherited it.

Some of the posters here a very young and like to talk but the truth is that LSU’s Secondary was terrible in 2020 & 2021. If they think LSU was DBU in the last 2 seasons then explain how LSU was giving up record yardage to mediocre teams. Explain how we had so much prima dona activity and poor play by the DBs who were coached by Corey Raymond. Brian Kelly is doing what he needs to do to change LSU’s losing attitude and if that means Corey Raymond goes then so be it.

Wow, this is total stupidity. You cannot let a proven recruiting and x/o talent like this coach leave. Not good at all.

You don't understand what it takes to run an organization with dedicated and loyal people to your process.

So does Ohio State. So does UGA. so does Alabama. So does Florida. What’s your point. Has it occurred to you that he wants to leave, that he wants new scenery?

I’ll let you guys in on a little secret: our DBs were better before he got here. Too many divas last couple years in the CB room. Frank will handle recruiting, Raymond can go enjoy Gainesville and Billy Bob Napier. LSU will whoop his arse once a year.

Billy Bob is the AD. Napier is the Good Ole boy.

Some of these posters on Tigerdroppings are ULL (Not UL) fans. Fuk ULL and Napiers little league ass. In the past season Billy Boy got destroyed by a terrible Texas team. Then he beat friggin’ Nichols by 3 points. He beat South Alabama by 2 points. He beat a pitiful Arkansas State team by 1 point. Yet to the ULL lovers out there Napier was Super-Duper. Thank God we hired a proven head coach and not some flavor of the month like Napier.

Jeez, these comments. No dispute that Corey is a good coach and pretty good recruiter. But if he's at UF, we move on. This program moving in a really good direction with or without him.

Agreed.....Most of these posters have never worked in a major corporation when a new CEO takes over. This is very common ground.

This likely had something to do with Frank Wilson coming back and being RC. But the loss of a title can be made up with more straight up money which LSU hasn't been reluctant to spend, so something else went on too.

He’s leaving because we have Wilson back. Am I the only one who finds it funny that the flagship university in Florida is building its recruiting strategy around Louisiana talent?

Lol, this true. Florida is loaded with talent. Maybe they just can’t keep them in state anymore.
