The attorney of LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy released the following statement on Sunday regarding Lacy's involvement in a fatal car accident back in December.
quote:

"As the defense attorney for Kyren Lacy, I wish to address the charges of negligent homicide and clarify the facts surrounding this tragic incident. On the day of the accident, Mr. Lacy was driving on a road with two lanes in each direction. While he briefly passed other vehicles, he safely reentered his lane without incident.

The collision that resulted in the death of Mr. Herman was not caused by Mr. Lacy’s actions. The accident occurred directly in front of him when a second vehicle in the oncoming lane crossed the centerline and collided with Mr. Herman’s vehicle, in which he was a passenger. We are of information and belief that the vehicle that collided with Mr. Herman’s vehicle was issued a citation. At no time did Mr. Lacy’s vehicle strike the rear of Mr. Herman’s vehicle, nor did any of the vehicles Mr. Lacy passed collide with his. After the collision occurred in front of Mr. Lacey, he cautiously went around the vehicles after passage was safe.

It is crucial to emphasize that Mr. Lacy did not cause or contribute to the crash. There was no suspicion of alcohol or drug use involved. Furthermore, contrary to some media reports, Mr. Lacy never “returned” to the scene of the accident.

Mr. Lacy’s actions following the incident, including sharing graduation pictures and engaging in training, were never intended to minimize the tragedy that occurred. He did not believe he was at fault for the accident, and as such, he continued with his daily activities. Throughout his career, Mr. Lacy has been an exemplary community member and teammate. We ask that he not be judged prematurely, and we are confident that further investigation will show he acted within the bounds of the law. I will vigorously defend his innocence in this case."

Here is a description of the accident from a report in January:
quote:

According to a news release from Louisiana State Police on Friday, Lacy was allegedly driving a 2023 Dodge Charger on Louisiana Highway 20 and "recklessly passed multiple vehicles at a high rate of speed by crossing the centerline and entering the northbound lane while in a designated no-passing zone."

"As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge," a Louisiana State Police news release said.

"Traveling behind the pickup was a 2017 Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the oncoming Dodge Charger. As the Kia Cadenza took evasive action to avoid impact with the Dodge, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a southbound 2017 Kia Sorento."

Police alleged that Lacy, 24, drove around the crash scene and fled "without stopping to render aid, call emergency services, or report his involvement in the crash."

Every lawyer that takes defense like this should be disbarred. The only thing he’s doing is creating reasonable doubt for a lesser sentence. Our judicial system is broken because of sleezebag lawyers.

The problem is that the no passing zone stops right after the water tower which is south of the Dollar General. The wreck happened just north of the Dollar General according to pictures I have seen. So there is no doubt that it was a no passing zone where it happened at.

The lawyer's best shot at making money here is too keep his client eligible for the NFL.

Typical lawyer crap. No attorney is going to put its case out in the public, unless it knows that is the only way to win the case, and not to mention, for his client not to drop too far in the draft. The statement screams desperation!

It’s the job of the lawyer to lie and claim their client is innocent. They aren’t going to come out and say they are at fault.

It's not an attorney's job to lie. Its the attorney's job to represent him

According to Louisiana State Police, the fatal accident occurred at LA hwy 20 near Perez Lane in Chackbay. Check it out on Google maps. Single lane each direction, two solid lines between the two lanes. It is a no passing zone.

Lawyer speak…. ‘was driving on a road with two lanes in each direction’. Not necessarily right then and could be inferring that the driving situations were fluctuating. Looking at satellite, it literally switches to a passing zone just South of Perez Road. I guess one could imagine that Lacy may have thought it was a little ‘fender bender’ but not stopping, is the most difficult for me.

Just reading the attorney statement is Exhibit-A in game of lying.

I won't judge that he is right or wrong. He could be right. If there is any video evidence of the debacle, it should clear up everything.

That is a boldfaced lie about the two lanes in each direction.

For his sake, I hope this is correct. I believe I saw that there was a third car involved in this accident, so it should be pretty to verify.

If there were TWO lanes in each direction, why would he have to safely re-enter "his" lane after passing several vehicles?

Maybe accident took up 2 lanes. Vague question

Cut is probably like most "get you out of jail" lawyers...$100K minimum to just walk in and talk.
