LSU landed at No. 10 in the first College Football Playoff rankings which were released on ESPN Tuesday night.

During the show, Kirk Herbstreit mentioned LSU as a team to watch out for if they can pull off a big win Saturday vs. No. 6 Alabama. Per SDS:
quote:

“We talked about it a little bit earlier, but the LSU Tigers, mainly because since the loss to Tennessee, they were able to regroup, beat Florida, then go back home and take care of Ole Miss in a game where they pulled away late. I think they found some confidence,” Herbstreit said. “I think they believe in what Brian Kelly’s doing and as you said, they’ve got a quarterback playing well, and if they beat Bama, it’s a big if, but if they beat them, they’re an Arkansas and A&M (win) away from getting to Atlanta.”
Kickoff between LSU and Alabama on Saturday night is at 6pm CT on ESPN.

If we somehow beat Bama we just need Bama to beat Ole Miss, and then we need to win 1 of arky or atm to win the west.

LSU/Ole Miss/Bama finish 6-2 LSU has tiebreaker with both.

No. We contr our own destiny. Win out and we go 7-1 in SEC and own tiebreakers over Bama and Old Miss

I’m just happy that Tigers are actually being talked about for a championship this late in the season. I honestly can say after week 3 I would have thought our record would be different. After our 2019 Natty we know what it takes to win the big one. I’m not convinced as good as Tigers look now that we can run table. Hope they prove me wrong…one thing we have in common with 2019 group is both better are each week. If u watch 2019 recap videos , we were getting better each week. That team was way better vs Ga then Texas in week 1. Other years it seemed we peaked before now

LSU at 10 is an excuse to move Bama to 4 after beating a top ten team….Read the Tea Leaves!

No. It’s the opposite. If LSU wins, we will be in striking distance if we run the table. We could be unranked and if Bama runs the table they are in anyway. Tiger ranking does not matter in that situation.

So, he can read the SEC conference bylaws for winning the west.
There was no endorsement there.

I like Kirk...If you noticed, he sure has been speaking well of the Tigers in the last handful of years

It’s not his job to speak well if anyone. It’s his job to tell the truth and give an honest evaluation. To kirk’s credit he’s been very good at that for most of the last decade

Remember, he was the only one mentioning LSU in the summer: Watch out for LSU, they could be a sleeper!

If LSU beats Bama they can drop one of the games against Arky or A&M and still get to Atlanta. Only way that wouldn’t be the case is if Ole Miss wins out (including winning at Bama).

And if we run the table, we're in the playoff.

Is it by the conference wins/losses or the divion wins/losses? If division, we could drop one and still have tie breaker over ole miss. If conference, yea that makes sense.
