ESPN's Mark Schlabach Unveils His Bold Prediction For LSU In 2016

ESPN senior writer Mark Schlabach unveiled his 2016 predictions for every Power Five Conference and included LSU in one of his "Three bold predictions for the SEC."

Schlabach says LSU will lose only one game this season, a home loss to Alabama and will play in the Sugar Bowl at the end of the season.

1. LSU coach Les Miles will survive another Alabama loss: Once again, the Tigers will roll through September and October before meeting a familiar stumbling block in November: Alabama. The Tigers will fall to the Crimson Tide, 21-20, at Tiger Stadium on Nov. 5, which will be their sixth straight loss in the series. This season, though, LSU will recover to win its last three games and will finish 11-1. Alabama will win the SEC West, but the Tigers will be the second-highest ranked SEC team and will be invited to the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

If this actually happens, there's ZERO doubt there will be LSU fans jumping off actual ledges in Tiger Stadium. Fair assessment. It's the most likely loss on our schedule. Would still be a "great" season by general standards. It's just not a game we can lose this year. We just can't let that happen.

I been saying this since last year. If Les Miles just steps back and allows Cam to do what he's paid to do (Run the offense) and allow Aranda to do what he's paid to do (run the defense) we beat Bama. No question. Let them smash the throttle. Stop trying to sneak close wins. Bury not just Bama, but everyone one the schedule. Send a message to the voters that LSU is the strongest teams in the College football world so they can do anything but vote us in. Les, your job literally depends on it.

If we had to lose one game, I'd prefer we lost to anyone on our schedule but Bama. ANYONE. I'd trade a loss to Bama for a loss to aTm in a heartbeat.

If LSU is good enough to be a 1 loss team ( I believe they are good enough to be undefeated), I'd bet a grand the one loss wouldn't be to Bama at home. It'll most likely be Florida or Arkansas.

Florida is a far more likely "surprise upset" than A&M. A&M's offensive line cannot handle LSU's talent and depth, and their RB's are not good enough to take up the slack. They have the best WR core in the league, but that doesn't mean much when your QB is running for his life the whole game. Don't even get me started on their shitty defense.

@catnip, it would depend on how the other 3 of the 4 schools did record wise to set the top 4. However, as a Bama fan, I'd expect LSU in the top 4 in that scenario (a 1 point loss to Bama who'd only have 1 loss themselves).

So with a 1 point loss to Bama and an 11-1 record eliminates us from the playoffs? Unlike the 3 point win in Bama and the plan right after the whistle of that game to have Bama get a second chance.
