For those not on Twitter, former LSU safety Eric Reid and current linebacker Michael Divinity have been going back and forth about the new locker room that was unveiled at the Football Ops building.

Here's the exchange, which started when Eric Reid questioned LSU Reporter Emily Dixon:

Bravo Mike. Reid's original gripe was about all that money spent on the locker room instead of players being paid (which is an NCAA issue, not LSU one). I guess Reid realized he lost the argument on that point, so now he changes gears to scholarships

I almost didn’t click to read this because I thought it would be the usual social media back and forth you see. But glad I did because Divinty has it together. Good publicity for Mike divinity right here.

He forgot about taxes! Aside from that, dude sounds like a smart cat. Makes some great points. You can’t tell another man what to do with his hard-earned money!

Eric Reid, a great player...but he's been standing with Colin Kap for all the wrong reasons. I'd love to debate him over taking a knee for police profiling and excessive force issues. I mean let's talk about Mike Brown attempting to take the office gun from him while seat belted in his Police SUV and ended up getting shot.... Hands up dont' shoot was a freakin like by someone in the African American community. Mr. Ried, why don't you use your money to educate people what not to do after being caught breaking the law....and the proudly stand during the anthem... Until then, you are just helping the fatherless in the black continue to be racially profiled because they act like the profile...Let's have a real conversation about these issues...and talk about behavior and attitude

Your intelligent and rational post makes too much sense for your adversary to comprehend. Unfortunately, you're just preaching to the choir here, brother.

sorry I forgot to proof read...Respectfully, LSU football brings in 86 million, profits close to 56 million a year, ...it takes money to make money and keep up with everyone else in the SEC...LSU football feeds the needs of the entire university.

Just a question, what proof do you have that i haven't seen that shows Mike Brown attempting to take a gun from a police officer?

Divinity is rhetorically kicking the shite out of Reid

Same. This is an argument that Reid cannot win, but he may never actually realize it. Divinity seems wise beyond his years.

Reid is sliding down my list of fond memory tigers. Why is he fricking with LSU on this? He seems intelligent but chooses really dumb points to fight over.

What has he ever said that makes you feel he’s intelligent?

Maybe Reid and AOC should get married.

After looking through Reid's twitter, dude is so mad at the world. He's chapped he got a random piss test. Bro, you signed up for this.

Its like he doesn't realize that in the real world, lots of businesses drug test employees that make less money in 2 years of salary than he gets on one game check.

In many respects, spending on football (either directly or through TAF donations) is a circuitous form of funding the school, and is a far more enjoyable form of taxation. Frankly, if you enacted a real tax to net the same amount of money that athletic revenue provides, you'd have a lot more sour grapes. That said, state funding of higher education typically has a pretty high return on investment, and the folks arguing for more finding for the education side have a point as well. I don't personally have an issue with Eric Reid voicing his opinion, just like I don't have an issue with folks vehemently disagreeing. As long as folks are respectful of what is a genuine, heartfelt concern expressed in good faith, it's worth having the dialogue. Let's have good facilities, and let's better fund our higher education. This doesn't have to be mutually exclusive. And props to the former tigers who out their money where their mouth is.

I cant believe Eric is doing everything in his power to alienate himself from the University that he Bled Purple and Gold for just a few short years ago. Now I get what his argument is but why go there and the point he is making but he looks like a jealous petty fool. Should have stayed off social media and just focused on being a better football player. He would have been a yearly face at the Pro Bowl if he had now fans and players alike wont vote for a pussy like that cause they cant stand to be around him.

Eric need to just cut bait with this one and save a little face while he can. I think he made a knee jerk statement based on ideology without thinking it through and now his pride is trying to keep him in the debate. One that people are able to take him to task on fairly easily. Bad deal for him.
