Following practice on Thursday, head coach Ed Orgeron met with the media and was asked about the quarterback competition heading into the season opener vs. Miami.

Orgeron said that sophomore quarterback Myles Brennan is "10 times better" since the spring and that the competition between him and Joe Burrow is so close that both of them might play.

The Tigers have their final scrimmage of fall practice on Saturday and hope to have a QB decision after that, according to Orgeron.

it's all coach speak. Burrow will be our starter. That was a done deal when Burrow signed his papers to come here.

I just can’t see joe transferring in without being 99% sure he would start. He was in a great system at OSU and learned a ton. I’m personal opinion is he is ahead of Myles. Maybe not in accuracy but game management and decision making.

Anybody believing this B.S. "both play" garbage probably believes the scrimmage stats O puts out. I'll hand it to him, he does the misinformation game like a seasoned head coach. I hope he does everything else as well as he does that. The personnel moves are starting to gel, so we'll see. Cautiously optimistic!!! GEAUX TIGERS

Brennan plays in 4 games throughout the season and Redshirts to keep that year of eligibility

That would be ideal

I'm for making the best use of the talent on your team. If the "killer Bs" can be used in tandem I'm all for it. With Burrow being a dual threat guy having a backup who gets a lot of PT keeps that part of his game in play. If Brennan wins then Burrow can come In as a change of pace. I always thought the Guidry-Hodson combo was done the best with Hodson given the opportunity to get perspective from the sideline.

Brennan does have a nice arm but, I’m sure it comes down to which guy is in the best command of the offense and which guy makes the best decisions with ball

Brennan has more speed behind the ball. Honestly Burrow has looked just alright. Both decent qbs

What are you basing this off of? Are there any recent clips of them throwing?

both can throw, but who can play with the lights on under pressure? that's the question. Burrow is going to start because he is physically way more mature...

Doesn’t want another QB transferring...

Something doesn’t add up. Right after Burrow got here, the word from O was that it was still a four-man race and they were all close. Now, Brennan is 10X better and...it’s still close? Does this mean that Burrow is also 10X better than when he got here?

It’s not new news that coaches say whatever they want to the media and the team/players the real situation at hand

If you’re going to quote use the whole sentence. He said 10x better SINCE THE SPRING. Joe got here 2 months ago.

it's just coach speak. It amazing me how people put any stock in what a coach says. There's always an ulterior motive when coaches speak to the media. Give it zero weight.

Gotta dig deeper bro. It was on the receivers dropping balls. There were about 9 total. They both threw "on the money" that were words from O and others that were there.

Hell yes. I knew Brennan would come along. Think he’s going to have a great career at LSU

Brennan won't start a game for LSU (absent injury)

I can see the thought process behind playong two. Brennan has a leg up being in the system much longer and joe is probably more advanced in his skill set right now. I’m sure by the auburn game all will be settled.

Leg up? ...Brennan played in Canada's system last year

Say what?

He’s been in the system much longer. Ensminger has been working with him and he has 8 months more time than joe. It’s no secret joe came in July. Myles has been working with the ones and ensminger since January

If you play two, I'd rather see it be two people with two different skill sets; otherwise, it seems redundant. However, if Brennan sees meaningful playing time, I'll take it as a blessing and a sign that he has molded into the savior we knew he could be. Just hoping for consistent play and good effort. Also, a million passing yard, 400 TD's, and no interceptions of course.

It isn't redundant. The hot hand plays. LSU is trying to improve its' passing game. To have a QB who is not as good or accurate passser is not what LSU needs. I am tired of having top notch receivers and a so-called "dual threat" QB like Brandon Harris or Jordan Jefferson.

Thank you Rob62. Finally someone understand what he means by 2 QB system...it wont be a package setup for the backup like the Flynn, Perilloux 07 season. It'd be whoever has the hotter hand that game
