The College Football Playoff Management Committee, which consists of commissioners from the Power Five and Group of Five, were on a call with Vice President Mike Pence this week and made it clear that college sports will not happen until students return to campus. Per CBS Sports:

Vice President Mike Pence was a good listener Wednesday on a conference call with the College Football Playoff Management Committee to discuss the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on college athletics. That was one conclusion drawn by those on the call because the message to Pence from that group was clear: There will be no college football until students are allowed on campus.

"Our players are students. If we're not in college, we're not having contests," said Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby, who was on the call.

"Our message was, we need to get universities and colleges back open, that we were education-based programs, and we weren't going to have sports until we had something closer to normal college going on," he added.

I don’t disagree with that stance. At the same time, I wonder how the schools plan on covering the costs of the athletic scholarships, coaches salaries, and AD departments without revenue from football games.

I'm sure they'll (all conferences) will request a Fed bail out. Yet more money to the national debt. These Chinese are crafty fellows. They understand how to sink a world economy

Bet LSU still takes my season ticket payment May 1st.

Why would they even bring this up? Has it been mentioned about the possibility of having college sports without class? Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

It’s the PC thing to say even though it’s completely irrelevant to reality.

It needed to be laid out by CBS that they told VP Pence how it was going to be and he sat there and listened.

It is friggin' APRIL. There is no damn need to decide anything regarding football season for a couple of months. Hell Fall practice doesn't even start until August. That is 3 1/2 months from now. What a bunch of morons.

Why are they being firm with the VP? As if he is pushing them toward football games

Hahaha right. These guys are all about the classroom and don’t care anything about the $50 million cut in P5 money. Got it, let me hear another fairy tale.

I said when this all started that LSU will be the last national champs. Looks like the Dims are intent on making that true.

Well, he’s right. As Peyton Manning said several years ago, “Notice that the word "student" comes before "athlete." There is a reason for that.
