The Devin White targeting talk continues on...

The college football crew over at CBS Sports had a heated discussion this week about the controversial call that will keep LSU's star linebacker out for the first half against No. 1 Alabama in two week.

The conversation started off with Brian Jones, Randy Cross, and Aaron Taylor all agreeing that it was a bad call.

Cross added that the hit made on Tennessee quarterback Jarrett Guarantano by Alabama linebacker Mack Wilson was more violent and should have been called targeting.

Things got interesting when Rick Neuheisel questioned: "would anybody be saying anything about this but for the fact that he is going to miss this first half of the Alabama game?"

Jones was quick to respond...
quote:

"I would," Jones said. "And I say it to you every Saturday because I don't know what the rule is, there's no uniformity, and it's very subjective. And it seems to me, if you play for Alabama you can get away with it but if you play for anybody else you are not going to get away with it."

"We see it on a weekly basis. You got a guy (Raekwon Davis) throwing haymakers and nothing happens to him."

"What do you mean?" Neuheisel asked. "Nick Saban made him sit the whole first half."

"I'm glad he did, Jones responded. "The official was sitting there watching him. Which haymaker did he miss? The first, the second, or all three?"
Later on in the conversation, host Adam Zucker asked Jones if there more to this than just bad calls...
quote:

"And it gets reviewed in Birmingham and you're saying that you think there is more involved than just pure judgment that it was targeting?"

"Well I see flags thrown on certain teams and I see them not thrown on certain teams," Jones said. "And i'll leave it at that."

No one can formulate a logical argument against Brian Jones in this case. He stated facts and the videos are evidence of those facts.

Brian Jones saying what Marcus Spears should be doing. I wish he would use his platform and support the program regarding this matter.

The people supporting the targeting call and saying there is no bias are the same ones that say there is no voter fraud or corruption among U.S. Congressmen!

A) I'm a Bama fan and I think White should have been flagged but not suspended for the next game. However, that's the rule. Now, I think it should be changed but it is the CURRENT rule in place. B) Comparing Devin White's hit to Alabama's is not the argument you want to make. Our guy hit the player under his arm right in his ribs but it was a big hit. Technically, Devin White made helmet to helmet contact, albeit it minimal. It's a bad argument to make for LSU fans.

But the rule is "leading" with X to the head or neck. White led with his hands to the chest. Any contact with the head after the leading hit should be considered incidental as was the case here. Further, there was no launch as I've seen only Alabama fans and pundits claim. Their claim that both of White's feet were off the ground is irrelevant and shows their bias. This is so because everybody should know that by definition when one is running, both feet leave the ground mid-stride. That is what makes running different from speed-walking. Furthermore, had White launched himself, he would have went to the ground with Fitzgerald as did Mack Wilson with Guarantano. The fact that White essentially stood straight up in the same spot as the hit shows that he was already pulling up prior to the hit. Finally, you need to rewatch Wilson's hit in slow motion if it helps. The crown of Wilson's helmet definitely hit the bottom of Guarantano's facemask.

DoubleDown you’re one blind MF... Look... just say I’m a Bama fan and I can’t take the blinders off so this is how I see it... Please save the BS! DW crown of his helmet never contacted NF whereas MW helmet clearly did and he launched on top of that... So if you can’t see that the only thing I can say is GTF and GFY

If they keep at it, someone's going to get hurt and I have no doubt about that. Let them make some fricked up blatant calls against LSU in this game and we might have a field full of people rushing them. They better keep it real. Let these guys play Saturday and watch Bama harder than LSU for once in your lifetime. It's a fact that they don't seem to care what Bama does. Fact. This has been happening since Saban took over. His little bitvh arse was beat in 2007 and he started taking measures to make sure that wouldn't happen again. Just listen to his confidence when he shakes Les Miles hand after that game. "You have a great team and good luck" from here on out he's saying. Frick Saban! He's wouldn't have shite without cheating and I honestly believe it. I'm

I love me some D. White just like all LSU fans, but if you watched that clip ( which in my opinion is staged) did you hear the idiot at the 2:52 mark say he was called for targeting and the call was upheld because he STOOD over Burrow????? & none of these asshats corrected him. They guy are nothing more than 4 of my buddies sitting around drinking beer and talking sport. Pitiful. Gueux Tigers
