Class of 2019 high school quarterback John Gordon McKernan from University High in Baton Rouge will walk on at LSU, according to Geaux 247.
quote:

"It’s one of those things where you grow up as a die hard Tiger fan," McKernan told 247Sports. "Growing up as a kid I always dreamed of running out on the field in Tiger Stadium, but I never thought it would turn into a reality. So I am thrilled to start my journey and try to do whatever I can to contribute to the team. Keep my head down and work my butt off."

The three-star quarterback on the industry-generated 247Sports Composite was 27-1 as a starter for the Cubs, en route to multiple state championships as he played on the nationally ranked team. McKernan ranks as the No. 78 overall pro-styler quarterback in the country.

Let this kid live his life. Leave his "parents" out of his journey! They "will not" be on the field with him.

I do not care about his dad, but I will treat this KID w respect. It seems that a) he loves LSU b) has guts to just walk on at the QB position, knowing he will be noticed. Best of luck to him. Imagine if each one of us was judged by what some of our family has done... be fair to the kid.

I hope he doesn't sue the first guy that blindsides him.

Best of Luck to the young man. He could have gone elsewhere- but he wants to be a Tiger. That's what we want a local kid's dream to be. Welcome aboard, JGM!

I don't know anything about the kid, but I bet he's a decent person and excited about walking on to LSU. It's gotta take a lot of guts to come to LSU with all the negative press his dad gets here. Clearly he has the chest to play at LSU. I'll take him before Gunner Kiel any day of the year. Welcome aboard John Gordon. Best of luck to you. I hope you knock 'em dead. Geaux Tigers.

Gunner Kiel was 7 years ago and ultimately a bust. Take blessings in disguise and move on.

I wonder what his dad’s 40 time was back in his day chasing an ambulance.

There are double digit walk ons on the team. Why does this one get a headline?

Because this will be the only walk on featured on a lawyer billboard right outside the stadium

Why the animosity towards the old man? He’s a successful lawyer that you’re jealous of.

I love LSU but I would rather lose 50 games in a row then have that scumbags disgusting seed take a snap for the Tigers

The son isn't responsible for the sins of the father. If the kid loves LSU and proves to be good enough to take a snap, then we should support him and the team.

At least he didn’t go to UT like his sister.

Good for him. He has good stock in both grandfathers Jerry McKernan played basketball at LSU and Jimmy Fields played football. May not see a snap but I’d bet he sticks it out.
