LSU wraps up the first day of the Early Signing Period by bringing in talented center Cole Smith from Pontotoc, MS.

The 6-4, 275-pound prospect signed his National Letter of Intent Wednesday during a ceremony at his Pontotoc High School.

Smith is rated the No. 1 center in the country and the No. 1 overall player from the state of Mississippi, according to ESPN.

If Clapp comes back (most likely) and Deculus gets some cross training at Center in the Spring, we'll be OK at that position with Smith in the fold.

Can’t wait to see this guy play in Death Valley. He’s got a killer instinct and nasty mean streak. Watch his films. It’s like having a linebacker on the O line.

He's rep'n the LSU shirt so can't be liking him much. I'm sure he loves his kid more so than any college, I know I would. With the exception of maybe bama, not sure I would let my kid go there. Not if he had an LSU offer for sure.

Pontotoc not far from Oxford or Starkville. Good signing for Tigers. Probably killing his dad to be wearing LSU gear after years of likely pulling for State or Ole Miss
