LSU Flips Houston WR Commit Gary Burney Jr.

LSU added another key piece to its 2027 recruiting class on Sunday when three-star wide receiver Gary Burney Jr. announced that he was flipping his commitment from Houston to the Tigers.
The Bossier City (La.) Parkway standout initially pledged to Houston in late May, but LSU continued to aggressively recruit the in-state playmaker after extending an offer earlier this month. Burney ultimately decided to stay home and join the Tigers, giving LSU another talented Louisiana prospect in its growing 2027 class.
Burney, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound receiver, emerged as one of Louisiana’s fastest-rising prospects after a standout junior season in which he hauled in 76 receptions for 1,367 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Known for his size, athleticism and big-play ability, Burney also excels in track and field, making him an intriguing long-term addition for LSU wide receivers coach George McDonald and the Tigers’ offensive staff.
LSU now has 14 verbal commitments for the class of 2027.
