LSU quarterback commit Myles Brennan sent out a tweet late Wednesday afternoon to clear the air about his decision to open up his recruitment.

Earlier on Wednesday around 12:45pm CT, Brennan sent out the following tweet informing everyone that he has reopened his recruitment.

Many people saw Brennan's tweet and thought it was his announcement to decommit. But that wasn't the case, as he provided this update for everyone at 4:51pm:

Brennan's decision comes just one day after LSU offered five-star dual-threat quarterback Tua Tagovailoa who is currently committed to Alabama.

New head coach Ed Orgeron said at his press conference on Saturday that he wants to run a spread offense with a dual-threat quarterback which could be a concern for Brennan who is a pro-style passer.

Brennan is the No. 4 pro-style quarterback in the country, and the No. 5 overall player from Mississippi for 2017, according to ESPN. He has been committed to LSU since late April.

This simply makes no sense to me. Why go an recruit a guy commited to the Devil Saban? Dude ain't coming here. This kid from Ms has been all us. This is a Landon Collins type miss If it works out like that. Not that LC was ever a true Tiger, but the loss stung and added to our downslope vs. The Devil

Screw this. You stayed committed after we fired Myles. Why basically back out now?
user avatar
Cadello93 months
You're a special kind of stupid aren't you? We fired Miles, Myles is the recruit. This coaching staff needs to show this kid some love. He's an outstanding QB and loves LSU. Coach O needs to get it together. You play stupid games, you win stupid prizes.

The word commitment is taking a massive hit here.

The high school football player definition of commitment has changed a long time ago.

I just don't understand... Why couldn't MB play in this system?? Yes I get it... He's not considered a DT but I'm sure if MB needed to run I'm sure he could... it's not like he's no Zach Mettenberger statue.. A PS QB with the ability to run and understand his reads in the pocket is way better than a DT QB who can run but has no ability to make reads from the pocket if his running ability has been taken away by the defense.

Imagine how deadly we would have been if we had recruited Dak Prescott as a quarterback. There are quarterbacks in the world that can do both with precision. That aside, it's disturbing to hear a coach flip flop on what their future plans are. I was really looking forward to this kid.

Let's be honest who is being disloyal LSU or Brennan. LSU is approaching other QBs. I don't blame him at all.
user avatar
CubsFanBudMan93 months
It's not like he's LSU's only QB commit, nor has LSU promised to only sign 1 QB. He knows there will be competition. No one is being disloyal.

100% correct.

His decision as to not play with what is going to be the Number 1 team in the nation next season.

This is not a De-commit, this is a way to explore all other options as LSU is going through transitions to have a back up plan if needed! Take him at his word.

LOL. Literally though. He's not. Very thick guy. Narrow chest. All jokes aside I really hope he's part of our class because I believe he is a good qb prospect with a huge upside once we get him on campus and actually develop him.

You can't be both engaged and dating other girls and maintain that you're still committed. It's also not a "back up" plan if you are the one considering changing your mind.

Am I wrong, but aside for Hurt this year, both Coker and Sims before him, who Kiffin coached were not bug runners?

Absolutely right - And they stuck to the game plan and "didn't lose games' for Bama. Always good to have to have someone of Brennan's caliber on board. Besides, whether you want to transition into a "dual-QB" system or not, ya can't "flip a switch" and it's successfully installed < ask Brandon Harris > who Nick Saban said was one of the most talented QB's that's been through his Camp ! We best solidify our status with Brennan and bring him to LSU ! (...'did I hear Harris is leaving LSU?) Think goodness we had that 3rd-team QB < Pro-style> from Purdue this season !

Sims was a running back when he committed. He was DT QB

He ran for over 500 yards this year. Over 7 ypc. Not bad. It's a shame, he seemed to be all in for LSU even when O was hired.
user avatar
bountyhunter93 months
Didn't O already say he wanted a pro-style offense during the season? Sounds like his waffling may cost us dearly.

why do these kids need to announce it like some sort of press conference. Just re-open your commitment and let LSU know. These highschool kids are beginning to think way to highly of themselves. Can't be too good for longterm egos.
user avatar
BIWO93 months
I tend to agree, but this is a different scenario. He was 100% committed to LSU before knowing that the current coaching staff would rather a different style QB than he is. If he won't fit the system anymore, why waste his talents riding the bench. He's not looking for attention, he just needs to let other programs that if he no longer is a fit at LSU, he's open to other programs. I'm pretty sure every LSU fan besides you likes the kid and wants to see him succeed here.
user avatar
BILLFISHER2293 months
It basically is a press conference. A lot of coaches follow these guys on social media.

You white folk need to stop confusing recruiting season with holiday season. Don't worry, be happy. These players come easy, go easy. Stop letting Ebeneezer Stooge take the reins

O needs to shut his pie hole until he sits down with the new OC and decides the best route for the program. He has said two conflicting things about the type of QB and offense he wants to run all witin a two week period.
user avatar
Krypto93 months
He is probably already talking to the new OC and the reason he is changing recruiting direction a little.
user avatar
BayouBengals1893 months
And who is this new OC? Nothing is official until ink touches paper.
