New LSU Basketball head coach Matt McMahon has signed a seven-year deal with the school that starts at $2.6 million and increases to $3.2 million, according to his term sheet.

McMahon will gain an extra year if LSU receives a multi-year postseason ban or loses two scholarships for at least three years.

Hope he can coach ball because he won't have any talent for a few years

That's a very good point, only thing holding anyone from coming is ban on postseason play

Honestly I figured he have 2 break the bank 2 get a Coach like McMahon considering all the negativity & impending doom surrounding LSU basketball (Men) program.

If he wins, which he will, he is more than worth the money. LSU fans have proven they can make basketball a “money sport” with a good program. Also our new head coach seems honest and above board. Just what a collegiate program needs!!

This is exactly what is wrong with sports. Especially at the professional level. In real life your contract and terms are not shown or discussed. I think there would be a lot more loyalty and better sports played if everything was just kept under the table and not displayed.

Weird flex. I'd say of everything wrong with sports, contracts being publicly available for public schools who are using taxpayer money to pay the coaches would be very far down the list.

Hey moron he’s technically a public employee as an employee of LSU. All public employee salaries are public. This isn’t the NBA

I would not call you a Moron but Passing Wind is correct. I know after a certain number he is paid by 3rd party. But you have to have oversite of public employees. Part of the oversite of public universities is salary.

Didn't you hear. We get to pay them now. Ironic because it's the same reason WW got fired.

Woody had to offer him more $$ & years than he would’ve normally. The looming sanctions & multi-year post season ban had to be overcome somehow I suppose. All in all I think SW knocked it outta the park with McMahon.

7 years. Better hope he is worth it. Never understand these long term contracts (5 years or more)for new coaches. Let him prove himself in the first 3 or 4 years then pay him big money if he is producing a winner. If not you can cut him loose.

I'm sure needed some reassurances considering his first few years will probably be rough.

He’s gonna need 2 or 3 years extra to account for the postseason ban and loss of scholarships. Harder to recruit when you can’t offer recruits a chance to play in the postseason. Not really a hard concept to grasp.

LSU has zero power in this hire he dictated what he wanted and got it!

Hope we don't get a 7 year ban.
