LSU Suspends Will Wade, Issues Statement

LSU President and Chancellor F. King Alexander and athletics director Joe Alleva released a joint statement on Friday stating that Basketball head coach Will Wade has been suspended by the university indefinitely.

Assistant coach Tony Benford will take over as interim head coach.

“Recent media reports regarding Coach Will Wade are without question concerning to all of us. As such, we and university officials have taken deliberate and purposeful steps to fairly assess and adequately address this situation. As we have done since media reports first surfaced months ago, we are closely coordinating with the NCAA with every step. They have our full cooperation and we will continue to report to them all facts and information on this matter.

"All of us at LSU share the obligation to protect the integrity of this institution, as such we have suspended Head Coach Will Wade indefinitely until such time as we can ensure full compliance with the NCAA, as well as institutional policies and standards. Assistant coach Tony Benford will assume the duties of interim head coach.”

Benford will be in charge as LSU takes on Vanderbilt in the season finales this Saturday at the PMAC.

We know Wade screwed up...but the audacity to weasel around the most pationate college sports fan base is straight up TREASON. You will hang Will out to dry and take credit like you are some ambassador of justice. But when too many people on the island know you are a mole whos more worried bout self image than the program you should love, you get sent into exhiLe.

The most f'ed part is Alleva, by doing what he did he has basically admitted guilt in a circumstancial way. Then says this in his statement: "As we have done since media reports first surfaced months ago, we are closely coordinating with the NCAA with every step." He cant possibly act like he suspended wade because he would not visit with them, because they have obviously spoke on the issue before. And if in fact he allowed wade to lie to him instead of actually doing damage control months ago, then he deserves every bit of the blame. Notice none of the other schools and characters are sayin shite. But also ESPN are not pumping the old pieces on Kansas and Zion. #play pusey get f*ed.

Not sure why this is such a surprise to some. It was obvious from the start that there were some shenanigans. A mediocre basketball program like LSU doesn't just start landing multiple top recruits without something shady going on.

He wasn't fired, he was suspended. With the way the NCAA handles these matters I don't think LSU had a choice but to suspend to avoid any further ramifications. No other school or AD would have acted differently considering the news and allegations.

This is all because WW got supeonaed by CD’s lawyer? At present, is WW currently under investigation? What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Who can suspend FKA and JA. The NCAA is lame and has been allowing this forever by big name coaches but now the little guy will be the example. Disgusting that LSU would surcomb to the media pressure and the boys will pay the price.

Hey I said about Wade after a few of his signings , a few guys with questionable character that LSU was going to end up in trouble either when he bolted for greener pastures or sooner . I told a fried the same thing about Ole Miss when Freeze was signing all those number 1 guys at their position that Ole Miss would soon be in trouble, but how Sean Miller is still employed says a lot about Arizona.

Why isn’t Joe Alleva suspended and/or fired too? Assuming what is being speculated is true, he made the hire. He is responsible and shouldnt be allowed to suspend the coach to deny responsibility. And if it is true, you can’t tell me there’s anyway he didn’t know what was going on.
