Joe Alleva Comments On Will Wade After LSU's Win Over Yale

Following the Tigers 79-74 win over Yale in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday, LSU athletic director Joe Alleva commented on the Will Wade situation with Jeff Goodman of Watch Stadium.

“I don’t know how deep this goes,” Alleva told Stadium after the win. “That’s the problem, and Will’s refused to talk to us. That’s the hardest part for me.”

Two weeks ago, Yahoo Sports reported that Wade had a conversion with runner Christian Dawkins in which he spoke about a “strong-arse offer” he made in the recruitment of freshman Javonte Smart. Wade remains suspended, but Smart was reinstated prior to the SEC tournament after sitting one game.

“I wish he’d come in and just tell the truth,” he added. “Just tell me what went on. I can handle the truth even if it’s bad.”

Probably not the best time to be making these comments.

If I understand the narrative correctly, Wade agreed to a meeting, that is, until he learned that the NCAA reps would also be in the meeting. Why doesn't Alleva have the balls to tell the NCAA, they're not invited to this meeting. That way Alleva can sit down with Wade and get Wade's side of the story himself, and then decide whether the NCAA should get involved.

Prob because the justice system doesn't work that way. Dawkins lawyer is praying Wade meets with them so he can subpoena the entire committee and ask them what was said, how it was said, etc... Just to find a way to perjure someone and be the sleazy defense lawyer he has already shown he is. Alleva needs to shut up

Alleva MUST go, he is basing his actions on a “Yahoo” article. He did not cite any other authority... this is CYA at its worst. Oct - Alleva knew, But he waits until post season to act.... And that is acceptable because of a “YAHOO” article?
