Will Wade and the LSU coaching staff received some amazing news on Friday afternoon when five-star point guard Javonte Smart from Baton Rouge, LA announced his commitment to the Tigers.

Smart chose the Tigers over Kentucky, Kansas, UCLA, Oklahoma State and Florida State.

The 6-4, 185-pound prospect from Scotlandville Magnet HS is rated No. 6 point guard in the country and the No. 1 player from Louisianna for the class of 2018, according to 247Sports and ESPN.

Smart is LSU's first commitment for the class of 2018.

Here are some highlights from his junior season:

Stfu , so what , the kid has swagger and a little cockiness to him. Last players to have that was Ben Simmons ,Marcus Thornton , Tyrus Thomas and Glen Davis . We need that fierce attitude and skills

Not really a fierce attitude to smack your fingers into your temple when you make a 3pointer, but OK

As far as celebrating goes, don't give a damn if he scratches his gouch after every shot. He might be another Chris Jackson and I don't know you youngsters remember what he did running down the court

If he did that it would be so awesome

Does he ever make a shot and just go back and play D? Are his hand gestures a part of every made basket?

That is quite annoying. Hey look at me! I did something great. Just play the damn game. Let that speak for you.

Wait a minute-I thought Calipari could get any recruit he wanted to, from anywhere.

Definitely not true that Cal gets any recruit he wants (see Andrew Wiggins in 2013), but honestly Javonte didn't have an offer from UK yet. UK has prioritized Immanuel Quickley from Maryland as their primary PG recruit in the 2018 class.

Great news after the arrests yesterday. The last time we got local recruits of this magnitude we did pretty good. I suspect more are on the way!

If only we could've did this with Football after 2011. Instead we held on to Les too long. Good hire Joe.

After an undefeated run to the ship?

Hmmm...interesting thought here. Comparing an undefeated trip to the championship to one of the worst seasons in LSU basketball history. Not sure I get how they relate, but good get!

I havent seen any other highlights of this kid but hopefully their not all like this one. If they are i think Wade will settle the younster down a tad and coach him up to be an all sec PG.
