Per LSUSports.net: BATON ROUGE- With runners on first and second and no outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, freshman first baseman Cade Beloso ripped the first pitch he saw from Army right-hander Sam Messina into the right field bleachers for a three-run blast to lift the No. 1 baseball team to a 6-5 victory against Army Saturday afternoon in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.

Like someone just said this was a young team that played today and they came back to beat a veteran team early in the season while they're still finding their feet is very encouraging. If they keep that up their confidence will be sky high come SEC play and they'll pick it up a few notches. The great teams can withstand some early heat while coasting and then turn it up when it's time to do that. Winning against good competition early on while your coasting is a great sign.

Well Army is predicted to win their conference and make it to a regional so I wouldn’t call it sad especially since CPM obviously experimented with the young pitchers today in a tight game. Just glad it worked out in the end.

LSU treated this game as a mid-week and Army treated this as a weekend conference game and LSU still won.

The fact that this team fought back in both games is more encouraging than the actual W at this point in the season
