In the fourth quarter of a tie game between No. 14 Miami Central and No. 4 IMG Academy on Friday night, Miami Central DB Lawayne McCoy intercepted a pass and took it to the house for what would be the final score of Central's 20-14 upset win... EXCEPT, look a little closer and he didn't score. He launched the ball into the air barely inside the 5-yard line...

Kids look up to Deion Sanders and other pros who are self promoting themselves with dumb antics like this. Think Team first then celebrate

If you pause it when he is on the three yard line the ball is about three feet above his head.

That might have been the dumbest play I’ve ever seen anyone make in football. Dude had no depth perception, common sense, or anything.

He threw it in the air ~6 y/l. Not a TD.

…so I looked it up, 10/8/89. Rice knew it too, because he punched the Saints logo when he got to the end zone stands

Jerry Rice did same against Saints in the Dome (?12/10/91?) and TM7 against UGA in SEC ship 2011. Neither of those were called fumbles either. Funny thing is we were down 10-0 to UGA and that punt return sparked us. If fumble is called, maybe we lose that game. Then we would have faced OkSt in National ship in Dome, not gumps.

You don’t think they would’ve just put Bama in over LSU?

I'll never understand why players do that. What does throwing the ball have to do with anything? Why is that cool? Isn't scoring the TD the cool part? If you want to throw the ball, do it 5 yards into the end zone instead of 5 yards in the field of play.

Not a touchdown, why not do all that after you cross the goal line?

Cause it won't look wicked bad arse if you do it that way.

Clearly did not cross the goal line. Man I get it…they’re kids and they get excited but every single player needs to be explicitly taught not to do this or it’s gonna keep happening

Normally I dislike a post like this, but that idiot starts tossing the ball into the air celebrating at the 6yd line. That’s not a freaking TD.
