Why not? At least it isn’t a 350 pound black bear in a Christmas parade.

Yes. I get closer than that all the time in the Everglades. It would probably laugh at my swing though.

Sure, I'd hit the ball. Then I'd hit the gator. And then guy taking pictures.

There is a local private course, the 8th tee is on an island. It has a wooden bridge leading from the cart path to tee box. There is always at least 1 or more gators on that tee box. No one blinks an eye.

Forgot to rake the sand. A-hole.

Yes, and I have. I’ve also made them move. Tapped one recently on the tail with a 4-iron after which he jumped in the water.

The alligator has survived for millennia because it knows to leave people alone.

Have to play it where it lies but nothing says that you can't take the rake and use it to scare the gator into the water.

If there was ever a case for free relief from an obstruction or hazard this is it.

Love how he took off running. That alligator could have outrun him without hitting anything resembling full speed.

Some courses do allow no penalty drops. I played Fripp Island SC that had an 8th and 9th hole (if I recall correctly) on opposite sides of a water hazard that easily had around a dozen gators in the 4' to 10' range on both banks. If a verifiable ball landed too close to them you were granted a no penalty drop

inaccurate...if you are outside of quick strike range humans with an average running ability can easily outrun gators They are only faster than us in short bursts.

I think I’d scare him in to the water first. Just drive up by him.

that would make most sense, but knowing the times we live in, the course would probably fine or revoke your membership for harassing wildlife

Gotta play it as it lies.
