This Is Kirk Herbstreit's Opinion On Alabama Players Skipping Bowl Games

I don't see a problem with it. CFB makes millions off of these kids, and they risk their futures everyday. So, by cutting the risks once the season is over is completely up to them.

selling out your team and teammates to "protect" your nfl career is cowardly, (being based on fear of an injury), exceptionally superficial, and typically results in more consistent injuries once in the nfl (as susceptibility to injury typically comes from your mindset). Leonard Fournette perfect example. Dude has been hampered by injuries sonce day 1 of his nfl career, and has been accused of not being a team player, and now it has come back to bite him in the arse....now that he is healthy, has not been getting many carries and has not done much.

To be honest, I’m fine with the stars not playing, but the extension of that thinking is to call the whole thing off. Why would a fan want to travel to a bowl game with no meaning? Stars sit, fans sit. Empty seats and empty ratings equal the end to bowls.

No point in playing in this game. These guys have all majorly contributed to a 37-4 record over the last 3 years. If I'm a Bama fan, I'd look forward to seeing the future months earlier. They aren't going to play anybody in the bowl game worth it anyway.

I can see why they'd not be too excited about playing in the Citrus Bowl. LOL

For these guys, playing in a meaningless bowl game is the equivalent to hitting up Tigerland with your BRCC friends the night before your bar exam.

Like it or not, Football is a TEAM sport. Most College Teams value earning the right to play in a bowl. They also value kicking someone's butt in a bowl game too. To line up alongside a fellow player that and sweat and bleed together one more time. I would imagine, General Managers, at some point and to some degree - measure a potentials player's loyalty to his TEAM and his Team mates. I would imagine it is a part of their draft grade... I wanna guy that plays in the Bowl game. He owes it to his team, his team mates, and to himself to end his career correctly. Devin White didn't think about skipping his Bowl game.

Unless a championship is on the line, I don't blame them for skipping the advertising.com bowl game.

Tough debate. If one of those kids suffers an injury of ANY type, is Kirk gonna pay them millions? Then who is he to have any input on what those kids decide to do. Honestly, as a Bama fan, I want to see our young kids play (they already did on Defense most of the year) to get experience for next season. This is a meaningless game for the guys going to the NFL.
