I don't see a lot of head coaches making moves this cycle...maybe Beamer will move since he has been on the edge in recent years at South Carolina...but he seems to be turning it around at right time this year...Wake Forest coach (Jake Dickert) has them doing well this year...he is in his second year. Would Josh Heupel jump ship to OU if Vennables gets canned? Would Brian Hartline leave USF after one season?

Assistants that could get looks:
Charlie Weis Jr (LSU OC)
Blake Baker (LSU DC)
Mike Bobo (Georgia OC)
Glenn Schumann (Georgia DC)
Shannon Dawson (Miami OC)
Bryant Haines (Indiana DC)

Is Aranda taking year off or does he find a new gig as assistant or head coach?

Who else will make the short lists?

Depending on what opens, I'm sure Will Stein will get some calls but I don't see him leaving Kentucky after 1 year for less than an NFL job. Not with the ties he has here.

Shannon Dawson (Miami OC)

Does he actually want to be an HC? It feels like he's had decent opportunities in the past but seems pretty content with being an OC.

Charlie Weis Jr (LSU OC)

Can't help but feel like he's the next guy who will jump to an HC job.

I doubt that Bobo will be looked at for a major job. He still has children in high school, and I don’t think he’d uproot them for anything other than a major job.

Ryan Grubb? Anyone, anyone...? Please, somebody make him an offer.

Seriously though, Corey Hetherman (Miami DC) may get a look soon. Really interesting background and worked for Cignetti at JMU for a few years before moving up to FBS gigs.

G.J. Ginne @ Texas State & Jeff Traylor @ Texas-San Antonio should be at the top of multiple lists. Both great young coaches that have squeezed everything out of both programs and are ready to make the jump, plus they’ve proven they can recruit the hell out of Texas HS football.
