Years ago, I would have said “Fire Wade.” No more. It’s all corrupt.

I would have been one of those 10-15 years ago saying right is right and wrong is wrong and Wade should go.

I still believe that in real life. I believe in truth, morality, honor, and doing the right thing.

College sports is not real life. It’s corrupt from top to bottom and any schools who win in the major sports are eaten up with corruption, money flowing, and players getting paid. We’ve seen in it football for years. It’s been all over basketball.

So, while I still believe in right/wrong, every single fan of college sports suspends that morality the moment you turn on a game and cheer for your team. Or, buy a ticket. It’s all a farce and has been for a long time. Everyone knows it. And, the NCAA is the worst pile of hypocrisy there is because they selectively enforce. And, liars like Pat Forde, Dick Vitale, Pete Thamel, etc. are paid by the machine they pretend is legitimate. The NFL has its own version of this, obviously, but nothing reaches the hypocrisy and corruption of major college sports.

For those of you whining about “the integrity of the university,” wake up and admit your complicity. YOU are part of the problem because you continue to enable this hypocrisy through willful ignorance. Then, you play the morality card and say you’d rather go 0-18 in the SEC than cheat to win.

Why don’t you just stop watching? Because that’s really what you’re saying. You don’t care if your team wins or loses. You just want to see the Purple & Gold take the field/Court and whatever happens next is irrelevant. You’re not an actual fan. You’re just taking up space.

It’s all corrupt. Either you’re fine with your school losing constantly and you’re just happy to be alive, or you call for the whole system to be dismantled (which is a position of integrity), or you accept it for what it is and just hope your school/coaches are’t dumb enough to get caught (which is a position devoid of hypocrisy), or you stop watching and do something else.

Those are your only 3 options, really. The sanctimonious blathering is pretty pathetic. Wake up and see what this is. It’s a multi-Billion dollar business pretending to be amateur athletics because that facade is the only thing that keeps the money flowing. No one is paying money to see a second rate minor league system.

Reinstate Wade and ignore the cheating that is everywhere, or burn the whole thing down and get the money out of college sports, which is probably impossible. Those are two options. Selective outrage just enables the ongoing corruption and makes scapegoats out of a few so the rest can continue on doing the exact same thing.

Wake up.

Anything that generates large amounts of money for corporate and political fatcats is inherently corrupt. Doesn't matter what it is. Greed corrupts.

He should be fired even if he isn’t found to have committed violations. He chose to cover his own arse rather than unite with LSU and his players.

This is a good post because it’s spot on. This is a corrupt business and in order to compete you have to get dirty. Blow up the whole system if you want people to follow the “rules”.

Especially so in basketball. To quote Orwell's "Animal Farm" -
quote:

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

"Some animals" in this case are the blueblood teams (Duke, UNC, Kansas, Michigan State, etc.) LSU is not a part of that group in basketball. Hence, why something so mundane (allegedly getting caught paying a recruit) has the sports world on full character assassination mode right now. You would think this was on level of Jerry Sandusky or something, with the way some of the LSU folks are talking about Wade.

And the kicker is THERE IS NO PROOF. A recording of a conversation in which nothing definitive is spoken is NOT PROOF.

No! He is not able to discuss the case!! F King Alexander should have kept his Libtard a*s completely out of this until April or later (when the trial starts) or when the ncaa came a calling. You don't f**k with your championship-building coach at this point!! If there is wrong doing uncovered OFFICIALLY, then and only then would you suspend or fire your CHAMPIONSHIP-WINNING coach.

If you’re not able to do what your boss says, guess what happens.

LSU needs a coach who can do the job. Wade can’t. Bye.

You are just as bad as these media clowns we speak of who jump to conclusion. Yeh he abandoned his number 10 team who he suspended his "morals" on to become a master of his craft and advance his career. If you believe that, wow. People need to think for themselves sometimes and let there intuition guide them further instead of speaking publicly about shite they know nothing about. Thats why narratives always spin. The truth comes out as it always does. So when it comes to reporting facts thats one thing. These media clowns like DV and Steven A need to stop pushing what they would do to someone instead of speaking about the elephant in the room.

That is very well said, sir. I have always thought that the best approach would be to sell these programs (football, basketball) to the pros and let them run them as farm programs like baseball. So, the Saints could buy the football program, lease the stadium for the games and call it the Baton Rouge Tigers. Get the sports factory completely out of the university system. But, sadly, that would probably not make enough money, so no go.
So, we take option number one and ignore the cheating. Wade is probably damaged goods and has to go. His main concern now might be staying out of the slammer. So, you ignore the cheating and face what that means - players will go with the highest bid. Can Louisiana, one of the poorest states in the nation, compete with the bigs in outbidding them for the Smarts of the world. The University of Texas has several billion dollars in its endowment fund and Lord knows how many billionaire alums. Somehow, Wade was able to come up with the cash, but now his successor is going to have to keep it up. I'm thinking that this whole house of cards is going to come down whether the NCAA wants it or not. In fact, it is the foundation of the house; time to burn it down.

Paying players is a moral issue for no one. Everyone is ok with paying players and, to some extent, the risks one runs when doing so.

What I’m not ok with, and what any LSU alum shouldn’t be ok with, is when we might be in trouble for something the coach has done, and the coach can’t show up *for any reason whatsoever* to explain himself to his employer. That’s the case now, and no hard feelings, because we’d all do what Wade did.

But I wish him the best in his future endeavors.

I mean no disrespect and realize that this will come across in a bad way, but this hyper focus on these “media clowns” is how I know which people don’t really know what they’re talking about. I never watch ESPN unless a game is on. Neither do any smart people. Just because ESPN runs your life doesn’t mean they run FKA & JA’s office.

Exactly!

I’ve posted, in more than one thread (and more long-windedly) about the parallels to steroids in MLB and Olympic/World Championship track and field, etc..

Some cheaters started the practice of taking steroids to improve performance, and pretty soon other athletes followed suit because they couldn’t compete. They trained just as hard but couldn’t win.
It was not a level playing field. It was a classic example of “If you can’t beat them, join them”.

This is what CBB is doing.
