What have you baws found that's given you the most longevity?

Big Box Kits or DIY ideas are both appreciated.

I use pavers sunk into a light concrete mortar mix around beds which touch grass.

It matches other finishes around the home and when sunk to a predetermined height relative to the grass allows the mower to put its wheels on the pavers to minimize trimming.

It’s fairly inexpensive, admittedly a bit more work up front to install, but aesthetically and maintenance wise far better than any of the other options I’ve tried.

I like metal edging. built many flowerbeds with it. Clear border between grass and flowerbed and holds up well.

Personally have railroad ties sunk about half in the ground and/or raised to keep it all level. Its aesthetically appealing with my style of house/setting and weed eating is super easy.

If you want to put a little elbow grease into it this looks clean when done. Inexpensive tool to form the concrete edge with.

I form bedding edges with a shovel making a “V trench” and then edge the grass with a string trimmer to get definition. Works best imo unless you are having an issue with soil/mulch wash out

I use wood also. But usually random shite like split firewood, cut logs, old fence posts, etc. not a permanent thing but Mother Nature abhors a permanent feature. I like playing by the rules of ecology

otherwise my large older beds are all bordered by giant blue liriope
