re: Home Video Security Questions for an idiot.... - montrose
I have a similar setup about 2 yrs. old with no sound on it which they now have. It works well over my hotspot internet and I probably have some cameras 200 ft. away from the base. Batteries last 4-6 months depending on use or location and each camera uses 4 batteries. I buy 12 for $16 on Amazon but...

re: New Water Heater - Tankless or not? - montrose
Yes. Since you have one I was curious that when your electricity goes out in a storm or for an extended period of time does the tankless water heater continue to operate? We have a gas tank water heater and the pilot stays lit and the hot water continues even throughout a power outage. The r...

re: Satellite internet recommendations - montrose
I currently use a Sprint hotspot with a 30 GB plan and 10 GB additional shared with phone which is 40 total for $110. Of the satellites I have fooled with Hughesnet Gen 4 seems the best. They have a business plan which has pretty good data limit for about a $100 or so which I would check out. I don'...

re: Has anyone here used the AncestryDNA test? - montrose
You can also download your test results and run this Promethease report that will compare your genes to a database of medications, diseases, etc. and you will be amazed at what it will tell about your health and the probabilities of you having certain allergies, cancer, diseases and other conditions...

re: Has anyone here used the AncestryDNA test? - montrose
I have done it and it is a help in verifying your family tree. Their system checks your family tree against your matches to identify common ancestors. I've fooled with it for several years along with other services and it can be fairly accurate for what it does....

re: Internet for out in the boonies - montrose
ETA, I may even check out Sprint or T-Mobile plans too
If you have Sprint lte in the area they have a 30 GB + 10GB shared plan for $110 on a Hotspot. I have it and it works OK but don't expect to stream a lot of Movies. One LSU baseball game eats 6-7 Gb. So you would be lucky to se...

re: Can I hookup a 4GLTE Air Card to a older Desktop w/o wifi capability? - montrose
I don't know but I would check out netgear support and FAQ's on their website or give them a call to see if it could be done with your router. They had instructions on how to hook mine up to the aircard. You might check the owners manuel also to see if it can be done. I would think you could if your...

re: Ancestry DNA Testing - montrose
So what makes one company better than the other (Ancestry DNA vs 23andnme or whoever else does this)?
I like Family Tree DNA (FTDNA) for YDNA testing which traces male linage because of their databases and their surname and haplogroup projects.
