Disney didn’t have the best earnings report yesterday. It’s surprising to see Disney struggle being that the cost to go to Disney is getting pretty pricey you would think they’d be rolling in the profits. It seems like their streaming service is not preforming as expected. I bought this stock a few months ago expecting it to eventually see the $200/share again. Is this a good long term hold? I’m in at just below 100/share.

Shareholder here - nearly 500 shares accumulated over the years.

Disney is rotten to the core right now. Executive management is not in touch with the real world. Media developers and steaming experts have injected their warped, non business ideology into the strategic planning of Disney.

The Board is as bad or worse than executive management. Now, all that said, only DIS has the ability to escape the clutches of Apple, MSFT, Amazon and Google to remain an independent media content provider….and be the best in the world.

I would not be shocked if you see the business split - parks, recreation and real estate then have media / streaming as its own business.

In 20-30 years the DIS failure of current management and board will be taught in finance classrooms across the nation.

Disney led with feelings and emotions and has put the entire balance sheet at risk….rather than sticking with sound business fundamentals that create returns for the shareholders.

Deep down, I think the marketing power of Disney will be a long term winner BUT they have to tone down the feel good, ESG, bend the knee to every employee feeling mindset.

None of that crap results in returns for the owners.

And….on the parks and entertainment side….stop forcing LGTBQRX down the throats of everyone.

I hate to say it but most parents of little girls around the world do not associate with that crap and they are the revenue stream for Disney.

Why management fails to see that is beyond me.

125 shares here. I honestly thought there would have been a pivot by now from all the woke tv/movie bullshite. They need to get it figured out or this problem is only going to get worse.

I'm losing my shirt on this stock right now. If it gets in the 70's i will buy more shares until then no more buying on the dip.

Same. I sold some for tax loss harvesting purposes but will be buying back below 80 if it gets there

Not a lot of synergy right now.

Disney is releasing movies / media without blasting related merchandise / in-park experiences.

That used to never happen.

Former Disney shareholder here. I also got into the category below.

I bought at $90 sold at $170. Family used to love Disney. Went to WDW for 8 consecutive years before COVID. Then I decided I wouldn’t give my money to a company that openly opposes traditional values and wants to interject ideas into children’s programming where they have no place.

I sold my shares, canceled Disney+, and will never go back to WDW. My hope is that there are many more like me and that the company continues to suffer until they reverse course.

The complete disregard for shareholders is astonishing. Chapek has driven this company into the ground ever since he took over for Iger and the board just renewed his contract 6 months ago. There is a clear lack of leadership at the top and it seems like the board doesn't even give a shite.

I was listening to a bunch of people that were saying that Chapek was going to right the ship as far as the woke bullshite goes. He was being strategic about how he could fire people that were pushing that narrative. But after listening to the WSJ Interview with him, its pretty clear that he's doing nothing of the sort and in way over his head.
