I cut mine about 2 1/2” during the growing season. In the late summer when it gets dry, I raise mower height to 3 or3 1/2”.

I think it’s 3.5 to 4 inch.

Centipede is much lower.

LSU AgCenter will be updating recommendations in their published literature shortly to 3.5-4 inches - announced at a Master Gardeners meeting late last week by a AgCenter consumer horticultural extension agent for East Baton Rouge Parish.

I cut mine at 3.5 where it gets sun and 4 under my trees.

Best part about it is that I can tell it's healthier and looks better/more full when cut.

Worst part about it is if you don't stay on top of mowing, it will look overgrown in a hurry.

St. Aug is incredibly resilient even at low height of cut. It might do best at 3.5-4 inches, but it will do absolutely fine at 2.5 inches. I have been cutting my yard at 1 inch 2x weekly for 2 years because I'm trying to slowly transition from st aug to common bermuda. The st aug does not give 2 shits about being at 1 inch, still thick as ever despite my best efforts.

Well, it has worked perfectly for the past 21 years, so I think I’ll stick with my method!

Highest setting on my mower which is 4". Every source you find will basically tell you 3.5" to 4" for many different reasons. It's not like your yard will die and cease to exist at 2.5" but you will have less weeds and healthier st aug if you bump up to 3.5"+
