Does anyone know the latest on the state of this course. I played at SM with a guy yesterday who said CM is putting a boat load of money into restoring the course to what it used to be. Is this true? What's the situation over there? All I know about the course right now is it's in terrible shape. It would be great if made a comeback. It's a fun design and I used to drive out there all the time to play it because it was worth it.

The HOA, who owns the course, went up $1k on HOA dues per year to a total of 2500. My understanding is that 500 of that is dedicated to improving the course conditions and the other 500 is suppose to go towards capital improvements (like a club house that has never materialized). Not sure of the exact lot count at CM but that's a fair amount of money.

Played there Monday in a scramble event and it was bad. The super has a sense of humor cutting holes in greens near areas with no grass.

I agree. It was my favorite place in BR to play just due the having 6 of each. That opening par 5 was very easy and starting with a birdie or at least a chance at one was nice.

I counted 310 houses from google earth on the course, give or take 10.

I went 2 years ago and the Pro Shop was closed and a sign said to go to the restaurant. Waited 5 minutes there and couldn't find anybody. Went to Beaver Creek and haven't gone back since. I guess I could have jumped in a cart and played for free.

The mobile home club house always bothered me.

Greens aren’t bad at all. Played em yesterday. Better than Beaver, Greystone, and the Island

When the last time you played all those? Played Greystone today. Greens are making a come back. Looks like they pulled a small
Core verticut and top dressed this last week. Rolled fine just don’t look good.

Why? I haven’t played Copper in years to compare.

Side note, I was out at Greystone recently and they aren't nearly as bad as they were. They look like trash, but they putt fairly well, all things considered. I think once it gets warmer, they will be back with no issues.

Golf course is also growing on me since y'all told me the lines/club selection on a couple of the holes. Makes playing it less of a guess.

As I’ve said with all of my posts regarding the greens, the questionable ones going forward are 13 and 15. 13 is coming along to the point (granted it’s slow) that nothing drastic should have to take place but 15 has an area in the center that could need extensive work. Management is prepared for that if needed.

New sprinkler control system going in tomorrow. They’ve been going manual for a while but As the nights get warmer, they need the controller working for the overnight schedule.

Beaver about a month ago. Awful

The island I practice there every week. Unless the course greens are drastically better than the practice green, they’re no good.

Greystone I played it about 3 hours ago. It’s not just 2 of the greens. For what Greystone was and what it’s suppose to be, the greens are extremely substandard. The fairways and bunkers are of Country Club quality. The people are great and the 19th hole is too. The fact remains, the greens aren’t good.

Hence “going forward”. The rest (7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 17) are simply as Johnny said. Need warmth and water and should be good quickly enough. None of the others have anyone worried. They’re as they should be a week after treatment.

Glad you came out. It’s a fantastic tournament.

ETA: And I agree with your overall assessment. They should be (and usually are) in better shape. This has been coming since October. The winter did no favors. The people in charge have been doing what they can since then.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume that since 90% of the courses in LA right now have terrible greens, the weather has to be the culprit.

Glad to see greystones greens are getting better. I know they were bad enough to cancel the LGA club team championship there this past weekend.

Absolutely, anytime you have that much rain, it’s tough!

Eh. Not quite. LGA didn’t have enough teams signed up either. It was a mutual decision in that regard. Worked out for both.
