Somewhat of a spinoff of the “hating the Tennessee Titans” thread, (example bleow)
LINK /

What teams always make you think, do they actually have fans?
In the NFL for me it’s the Jaguars and Panthers
I don’t think there are any panthers fans outside of Charlotte and even that there’s not tons of them anyway.
Jaguars and Titans the same.

In other sports:
Basketball- Memphis Grizzlies, Charlotte Hornets, Orlando Magic
Baseball- Toronto Blue Jays, TB Rays, Miami Marlins
Hockey- Florida Panthers, Carolina Hurricanes

NCAA: Northwestern or Vanderbilt

Their home games are almost always filled up with the opposing fans

I wouldn’t include college here
Especially for schools like that where Academics take precedent over sports

There are a lot of Jags fans. Most of them just have a connection to the city. Ie. they live near by.

You see tons of packers fans but most of them have no connection. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

Exactly my point....

Also wouldn’t say “a lot”

No there’s a lot. I live here. The jags are a big deal in Jax and it’s a big city where a majority of residents grew up here. Elsewhere, not really.

Teams up north have bigger more rabid fan bases for pro sports. It’s always been that way. Maybe the weather?

I think it has much more to do with the lack of local college sports teams (Philly, NYC, DC, Detroit, etc).

So most new, small market teams not tour estimation?

My honest answers:

NFL: Chargers and LA Rams
NBA: Nets
MLB: Any team in Florida

Yea in Jax, never seen em outside the city
A minor city in the country.

Oh also add the TB Bucs. Another fanbase that I’ve never seen

Because they have pro teams for a while, and their CFB teams suck.
Pro teams are generally pretty new or non existent in the SEC states

Although you could say the Midwest /Big ten market is college first.

Great support at home when the team is competing. It’s not a large fan base, but it’s passionate.

All of Canada roots for these guys it seems. I’ve been to Spring Training a couple of times and there’s a shitload of Jays fans. I also saw them in Denver recently and there was a bunch of them that show out on the road.

As for the others, I kind of agree. Not sure about the Magic and Hornets, but NBA is always a different animal since they market the players and not necessarily the team.

I had to look to see if the Phoenix/Arizona Coyotes were still a thing, and evidently they are at the top of the Pacific division. Do they have fans or is this like the Hurricanes and the Panthers?

I guess you didn't put the pels because you see the fans on this site? They should definitely be in this group.

Most of the "growth" cities in America, even though they are big growing cities, are transient cities and struggle to build fan bases because most of those transplants already root for an established franchise. The Charlotte's, Nashville's, Jacksonville's, Tampa's, Miami' and Phoenix's of the world have very fickle fan bases because nobody is from there. Most of their "new" citizens are from the Midwest or Northeast and they already follow franchises from those areas of the country. Case in point, the Arizona Cardinals in back to back weeks essentially played a road game in their own stadium because there were so many Pittsburgh and Cleveland fans there. Its not that those fans traveled to get there....no they just actually live there now. Its like that with a lot of transient cities.

You don’t know Jacksonville. Most people are from here. At least compared to places like Charlotte and Nashville. Jags are huge here. Elsewhere, not really.

Jags are not in one of those situations where the stadium is filled with opposing fans.
