Sankey's got to go.

set aside his crap with LSU and be objective. i read an article this AM about Sankey wanting the SEC to leave the NCAA and the article says he needs to take action, I see alot of problems with doing this without the BIG 10 also doing it but thats for another day. I
I do not think Sankey is qualifyed to lead the SEC in the future.
1- if we go to 24 teams making the playoffs that probable kills the SEC championship game which generates huge revenues
2. Sankeys leadership has resulted in a terrible TV contract. the Big 10 has a MUCH better contract and they have larger pay outs to each school in spite of the fact the SEC has better viewership of the games. Sankey obviously is NOT the guy to negotiate the next contraact.
3. I think he's in over his head and may greatly damage the conference in the future.
My problem is I don't know how to go about firing him. Unfortunately LSU is not in a position to lead the charge due to Sankey negatively hurting our brand over his ego and emotion. the other 15 teams will not follow us at this time as they perceive us as the rogue school. The other big brand schools are gonna have to lead this. that shitty TV deal he cut is cause enough.

There are reasons he should be fired. This isn’t one of them.

Agreed
His first mistake was moving to 9 game SEC schedule. Sure it’s “better” with only 3 non conference games, but it was unnecessary for a 12 team playoff.
Now he justifies moving to a 9 game schedule by agreeing to a 24 team playoff.
12 team playoff is dumb, 24 team is even dumber. A bunch of 9-3/8-4 teams that have no shot at a championship
I guess it could end up being like Omaha where the SEC has 6 teams in the final 8

read my post again as I didn't use this as a reason to fire him. I only used the lousy TV contract. plus my disdain for his leadership going forward

Literally your first reason.
I agree with everything else.

Ahh yeah. Everybody should have certainly known that #1 on your list of reasons "Sankey's got to go" was not a reason you think he needs to go. Clearly in these type of situations reason #2 and #3 are reasons.
Can you believe people didn't pick up on this? Crazy, am I right?

Are there fan bases other than LSU that feel this way?

sorry, i worded it poorly and given #1 it's own statement. but my premis is Stankey needs to go and I stand by it. I truly believe the SEC is about to be devalued (over the next few years) and I think Sankey's poor leadership is part of it.

I have to believe there's a lot of people in power in our fellow member institutions who aren't happy with him. There's apparently a few rogue presidents at schools like UGA, Texas, Mizzou, Florida, etc who are beating the drum on why we need some extreme punishments but that too shows poor leadership. And the boards or regents or supervisors or whatever their steering committees must recognize this.
We're in a bad spot. Sankey needs to go and some of these other schools have some massive problems as well. However if this is the new, forever norm, we have to leave the SEC.
There's no other options. Sankey goes or we go.

Im glad 24 teams. Means some legit teams that got hot late can get in. Half the 12 teams now are a joke due to schedule and or conference.

Yes dude there are multiple 9-3 teams, especially sec teams, that are better than some of the teams that make it. This is retarded thinking
Posted on 10/1/26 at 9:12 am to JimTiger72
Yes, I think that some 9-3 teams are far more legit than Notre Dame at 11-1 or maybe even 12-0
Posted on 10/1/26 at 9:13 am to mpwilging
There will never be a 9-3 team that wins a natty. Isn’t that the whole point of a playoff
Posted on 10/1/26 at 9:15 am to JimTiger72
So, they should only invite 5 or 6 teams??
And, you don't know that a 9-3 or 10-2 team won't get hot and win it all. Happens in basketball occasionally

Apples to oranges. College football doesn’t need a bigger playoff to determine a champion

A 24 team playoff is going to be a bad product. It’s not like basketball where you can get a mid major or ivy league school to come in and win a game or two. They need to keep it at 12 and just not allow the group of 5 a spot. Break them off into their own playoff.
Even if a G5 team happens to catch a P 4 team on a bad day and win, they will likely get pummeled the next week. Those early matchups will eventually end up with shitty ratings and water down their playoffs.
