Urban Meyer was asked this week which college football program provides the toughest atmosphere, his answer...
quote:

“Steve Spurrier named it the Swamp I believe in the 90’s, it’s very hot. Gainesville is obviously right in the center of the state. Not a whole lot of air circulates in the center of the state of Florida, especially early in the season. It is so hot.

Only Gators get out alive, is what Steve Spurrier said. The fans, the student body is incredible. The fans are out of their damn minds. When we had that thing going, a night game in the Swamp was second to none.”

Some good fans there but it's really a shithole these days.

WE have the best. But, the Swamp is right below us.

We once had the best. Not sure we do any more. Our reputation and a second to none tailgate scene helps our cause, but Tiger stadium isnt what it once was.

Wouldn't know. We always have to play that damn game in Jacksonville. Would love to do a home and home again. Or at least Jacksonville/Atlanta.

That didn't work out very good for the dogs the last time it happened. UF 52 - 17 in Athens in 1994 and UF 52 - 14 in Gainesville in 1995.

Good take. Not very controversial either, the Swamp is legendary

When my brother and I were there in 2011 (38-10), it didn't seem so fearsome to visitors. Seemed similar to Tuscaloosa for the same matchup the year before (31-6). But that ice cream freezer at BHG Stadium during halftime was outstanding!
