Agree, it’s like everybody makes it and even at 64 that’s too many games now 68, 76 then 100. May as well just start the tourney 1st game of the season. Pretty much all the college sports are getting watered down between, 50TV timeouts, portal, NIl the quality of games is getting worse every week.

Just cancel the season and go straight to a playoff. If there is more money to be made with more playoffs, that’s what will happen. I stopped watching basketball (any league, at any level) years ago.

When the field first moved to 64 teams in 1984, it represented 20.9% of the 306 D1 teams

There are now 364 teams, of which 20.9% is 76.
