Kentucky athletics fired an usher named "Doug" who is a Blue Coat at Rupp Arena this past weekend. Doug fired off a middle finger to annoying Florida fans after the Wildcats took home the win and it cost him his job. Let the "Free Doug" campaign begin...

The 101 Club (men in blue coats) won't stand for behavior like that. I'm not surprised he was relieved of duty.

Since UK is tax fed, ain't he a gov employee? So doesn't he get like 10 screw-ups before they can even think of firing him?

Or is "UK Athletics" private?

He's not an employee, he's a wealth volunteer who pays to wear the blue coat.

Employees who represent a company (or in this case, a university) cannot expect there will be no consequences for certain behaviors.

Unless you are a tenured professor who thinks the US deserved 9/11 or anything leftist like that. Then you get a statement from the university president saying that a public university respects the freedom of speech of its employees.
