I spent 3 weeks working there, the Inner Harbor is fine, the rest of the town is a shithole.

Just pay to get on the grounds, go to the back of the house where the shops are, wait for a chance to get in the house when no one is paying attention. Boom, save a ton of money.

Just pay for the guided tour. It's worth it. Plan on an all day trip.

Been a while since we have been but check out the winery. They had a restaurant there too. We did not eat there but I remember it smelled really good.

plan to spend the day, take your time. You can do an audio tour if you don't want to wait on the tour guide. The food is pretty good and the winery is nice as well. I'd suggest going on a weekday for a lighter crowd if possible

Don't go on the hike to the waterfall. It's a drainage pipe and smells of arse.

The garden and green house were really cool. I'd try and wait until it warmed up so that was blooming if I was you. The house, garden, and grounds are easily a 4 hour thing IMO. There's a cafe there or you can bring a lunch, I'd plan on either.

I haven't done much else around the acreage but there is probably some stuff worth exploring if you have the time.

This. You probably aren't jazzed about the idea now. Once you see the place though it's a whole different story. The garden and grounds are very neat as well.

Got married there (not at the house but on the property)

Biltmore village has an awesome restaurant and the winery has free tastings. Plus the area is beautiful. If you can afford it, stay at the Inn. If you at certain times you can take a Segway tour of the property

Asheville is awesome btw. Tons of great restaurants and breweries.

The grounds/gardens are really nice too. Visit in the spring or summer.

You should stay in Asheville’s other great historic hotel, The Grove Park Inn, or at least visit. Tourists are encouraged to visit and spend time (eat & drink) in the lobby or on the terrace that overlooks the mountains and downtown Asheville. The building feels like something that would be set in the Rockies.

Don’t go in summer when kids get in free. It’s a zoo. Otherwise, this estate is a top ten US destination. Downtown Asheville is a food and drink paradise. The Grove Park Inn is a wonderful setting for a stay or a meal on the terrace.
