What are your flying essentials

For me:
- noise-canceling headphones
- phone with downloaded movies/music
- portable charger
- sweater
- mouthwash for after the flight
I don't sleep on planes so neck pillow and face mask is useless for me. There may be plenty I'm forgetting as well.

-Yes to noise cancelling headphones, the one thing I can’t fly without; #2 thing is iPad with lots of content (mostly books, but other stuff too)
-Water bottle, to be filled after clearing security.
-Snack/light meal: aged English cheddar, whole grain crackers, an apple, almonds, a tangerine or satsuma, some hard cookies like biscotti, packed in a ziplock along with a couple of paper napkins. Maybe some beef jerky, too.
-slip on shoes or zip ankle boots for easy on/off

I usually wear flip flop or boat shoes to the airport, if tennis shoes they are something can just pull off and slide on.
Never really worry about a meal because I'm usually drinking at a close by bar before flights I feel full, my biggest worry is having to shot in midair

Nope, not even on longer (6+ hour) flights, I can't so I just startup. Then after we land, I go out and do stuff right away and usually back at my place by 6-7pm local time to sleep. Like for Portugal I actually had 2 of the 3 seats to myself as no one sat in the middle, tried to sleep but people getting up, lights on/off, and announcements, I just decided to start up and it was 8.5 hours

I’m asleep before the plane takes off.
Compression socks have been added to my list.

I won't lie, I tried that, took some then I went to the bar and drank before my flight and I ended up wide awake through the whole thing

Pretty good list, but I would rarely have use for a sweater on a plane.

I usually have a hoodie and if I don't wear it I use it as lumbar support.

That is oddly specific
For me, IPhone style headphones (I hate over the head style), plenty of water, light jacket/sweatshirt for long flights, comfortable shoes, small toiletries also for long flights

An airplane and blue-tooth earbuds to listen to contemporary jazz for zzzzzz

I know, it’s a carefully curated selection. Doesn’t stink, lasts for days and days at room temp and is still perfectly edible, high fiber, tastes good at altitude, neat and easily eaten without fuss. Having several days’ worth of calories staves off travel related anxiety: no matter if a plane is delayed, stuck at the gate for hours, or I end up weather re-routed to BFE, I won’t blood sugar issues. I usually have 2-3 Kind bars in my suitcase too. I have shared my plane picnic on many occasions with less prepared fellow travelers. It’s the food obsessed person’s version of a fashionista’s need to overpack clothing.

You guys are divas. Just give me a neck pillow and I am g2g.

Easy on and off and they don't take up much space in the luggage.
A sweater because sometimes I find planes cold, if I don't wear it I do like Zappa said and use it as a pillow or something

Flip flops while flying seem gross to me. At least slip on shoe wearers who kick em off are wearing socks. Bare feet in close quarters are icky.

I’m the same way, but it’s not plane specific. I have an incredibly difficult time sleeping sitting up. Planes, trains, automobiles: doesn’t matter. Even on very long flights like South Africa or Japan, I’m lucky to get an hour or so of shut eye. It’s become a bit of a tradition for me to catch up on some of the pop culture movies people talk about but I wouldn’t otherwise watch.
