Upcoming eclipses

I was in Dallas for the 2024 event - almost 4 minutes of totality! It was incredible. If you were there, you know.
I am going to see the upcoming eclipse (Aug 12, Spanish coast) in a couple of weeks. But it's weird - it's going to be at 8PM and only 5-10 degrees off the horizon, so the phenomenology will be entirely different. The totality is only about 2 minutes AND there is decent risk of cloud cover. I scheduled this one 2.5 years ago.

Now, I feel dumb for not having front-run the 2027 "eclipse of the century". It's going across Gibraltar, Northern Africa and Saudi Arabia. In Luxor, they are getting 6.5 minutes of totality! Everything - and I do mean EVERYTHING - is sold out in Egypt. Algeria, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia are kind of cuspy places to go anyway, but they are also largely sold out. I was able to snag a couple of rooms just north of Gibraltar as a placeholder, but the totality is only 4.5 minutes there.

Anyone got anything cooking or know about something actionable?
2028 is Australia. I'm probably going to go to that one, BUT...shorter totalities, much more remote where there are no clouds and significant risk of clouds in places like Sydney.

The next (and last for many decades) one in the US will be 2045 - and is going over Louisiana (barely!). (I'm ignoring the 2033 in remote Alaska)

We just booked a place for our group of 6 south of Cadiz for the week of the Aug. 2027 eclipse. Tarifa was sold out of good spots for our group. But there were decent places still available in Cadiz (and south of it like Roche and Conil de la Frontera).
We almost pulled the trigger on seeing the eclipse in Leon next month in Northern Spain. We thought the duration, timing, and weather of and for the 2027 eclipse in Andalucia was a better bet (based on the issues you noted).

My question is: what will Spain be doing to manage/control things? Like, will it be impossible to drive down from your spot to Tarifa? Just the ~35 miles of latitude between the 2 costs you almost 2 minutes of totality time.

We plan on possibly driving the 65 km to somewhere close to Tarifa for better viewing, but are OK hanging out by the pool of our AirBnB to watch it too (if the roads are all clogged that morning).

One of those things where I was interested to see but didn't really "get it" until the 2024 one. Now I can see why people hunt them down like this.

we were in the middle of the totality path in Stowe VT in 2024 and it was a life changing experience. It’s really hard to describe

Fast forward to 2024 in Dallas...and it was perhaps the most impactful shared experience I ever had, both with my family and the strangers that were around. People were high-fiving, hugging and openly weeping.
It seemed to touch people on a primal, DNA level.

I agree it was amazing to see here in Ohio. Most eclipses happen over the ocean and they have cruises that will take you there.

Not eclipse obviously but heading to Lookout Mtn to see the Pleiades meteor shower in a couple of weeks. Rented an Airbnb with a rooftop view in what should be a pretty dark area.

I plan to be there, south of Darwin in the outback, for whatever works out best. My brother and I improvised 2017 and 2024 and nailed both. A total eclipse is just completely awe inspiring. And I want to go explore Australia in a camper in 2028 anyway, so why not?
