My youngest is 4 and we are going to Universal soon for the first time. He is tall enough to ride almost anything up to 43” but not sure if he will want to. Are there any rides with a 40” or 42” minimum that you would say are too scary for a 4 year old?

Maybe the mummy?
Maybe Kong
T2 may scare him too.

Depends how sensitive your kid is, really.

Mummy is 48" to ride.

I would say Transformers, Spiderman, Kong, and Jurassic Park River Adventure are the biggest risks for scaring the shite out of him.

Transformers and Spiderman are 3-D rides, so if they get scared they can take off the glasses and cover their eyes.

Kong is awesome, but I could see how it could be scary for a 4 year old. I would just have him sit towards the inside of the car and not let him sit on the end. Jurassic Park ride is intense at the end before the drop, but not too bad otherwise.

We went last year with my 5-year old and he covered his eyes a few times on these rides but wasnt traumatized or anything.

I don't know why but I'm not really a fan.

Mummy will be closed until September. They picked a terrible time for a refurb.

May have not had the option to wait, may have identified a safety concern.

Yeah those were the ones I was thinking too. I might watch some YouTube videos to see what he thinks. He generally does whatever the older ones do but I don’t wanna freak him out on one and then scar him for the rest of the day. My oldest lost his shite on the dinosaur ride at Animal Kingdom when he was 4 and won’t ride it to this day.

Is Express pass worth the cost?

Absolutely. We were able to knock out both parks in one day with the express pass. Would have never been able to do that without the express pass. I dont think we waited more than 30 minutes for any ride. Most waits with the express pass were 10-15 minutes. We didn't do the big rollercoasters though (velociraptor, Hulk, Rip-ride-rock-it).

Now, if you've already planned for a separate day in each park and don't mind the wait times then you can save some money, but IMO the Express Pass at Universal is 100x better than the Genie+ program at Disney.

Yeah I like the system overall and I’m sure the week we go will be busy but it essentially doubles the price of admission and there will be 5-6 of us going. I’ve heard you can buy it same day if needed too though. We will get there before opening and half our group won’t even ride the roller coasters so who knows.

Are you all planning on spending a whole day at each universal park? As I said, if you have already planned to spend an entire day in each park, then the express pass is a luxury. If you are planning to do them both in a day then the express pass is a must IMO.

With a bunch of kids I doubt we can do both parks completely in a day without wearing them out completely. I’d rather do 2 days and ride some rides twice. I guess I can just wait and see how crowds and wait times are the week before our trip to see if it’s needed.

We did Dollywood recently and bought their version of the fast pass and never needed it. Felt like a total waste of money.

We went to Universal last week and you absolutely need Express Pass. I'm the only one in the family who likes roller coasters so I was able to utilize the single rider line for the ones I wanted to ride. But for the other rides that the kids actually wanted to ride, it was an hour plus wait.

All of those no longer exist and mummy closed…

Was just there with a 4yr old. He enjoyed it, he was able to do Dr Seuss land stuff, Spider-Man ride, woody coaster, minions. Would have done Harry Flight of Hippo but like was 90 min wait.

The Kong ride definitely still exists.

We went back in November with my brother and his family. His youngest is 4 and she seemed to have a great time.
