North Carolina over Tenn
Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area too touristy for me
Off the beaten path and better dining in North Carolina for sure

I'd pick Asheville. I'll take a hot needle in the eye before going back to Pigeon Forge. Too much of a tourist trap. If you aint riding go karts or buying Indian souvenirs, what else is there?

Same here. There is a campground in the area I love but I can't abide Pigeon Forge. Just an awful tourist trap; never again.

I would stay in Asheville and visit Biltmore.

With kids, PF
Anything else, Ashville is a no-brainer

Why not Banner Elk, Boone, Blowing Rock, or Maggie Valley?
