It looks like sticking with Vegas may be the better option even though I have went a bit cold on the idea.

Vegas is a good option for travelling without a car. I'd recommend finding a show or two that you may be interested in if you're not into gambling.

Have you figured out your New Orleans to LSU logistics? That may be a bit challenging without a rental car.

OK, here is my itenerary that can’t really be changed:

Miami - New Orleans - San Francisco - Los Angeles.

If you're locked into those four, #5 should be NYC.

It's nothing like the other 4 and NYC is the only city I can't make a legit argument for leaving out of a top 5 US cities list.

He said he's done the East Coast before so I'm assuming he's already been to New York. Otherwise I would agree with you.

Sorry, his stuff is spaced into like 3-4 posts and I missed that.

If he's been to NYC, if he can rent a car, driving LA to SF would be my pick. The coast is awesome, he's gonna be in LA and SF is as good as any other option on the other end. Cities are cool, but the CA coast is a different experience plus the cities.

Why the negativity towards Dallas? It looks interesting

I live in Dallas. Its a great town, but theres not much in the way of interesting geography and landmarks. It's a typical large American city.

If you want to see Texas, do Austin/San Antonio/Hill Country. Amazing area. Both of those cities have better cultural aspects to them.

I am just not sure on Vegas. I have heard it is very tacky and not sure if it is the type of place to visit solo.

Have you ever been on a cruise? Vegas is like a cruise on land inside of an amusement park. Its very unique, I'd recommend going there. Its basically no culture but a ton of ridiculously awesome tourist things. Its a la carte Disney World for adults.

If you are going to the West Coast I'd definitely recommend San Fran or Seattle. Not sure how long you are going for, but even if the weather isn't great 2-3 days in Seattle would be great. If you are from England you are used to a couple of days of dreary weather. Plus if you are doing San Diego and Vegas that will be clear weather most likely.

Worthy to note though, if you thought Boston was expensive Seattle and San Fran are worse.

San Diego and Denver are my top 2.

If you want to visit somewhere in Texas, check out Austin

Your itinerary and travel history are exactly the same as hrryhll.

Even though most of us know you are a lying phaggot I won't RA the thread because it could benefit others.

Places I'd pick over Vegas out West:

-Denver (non-stop flights available on SW from Nola)
-Phoenix (Scottsdale) (nonstop flights available on SW from Nola)
-Santa Fe (I don't think SW flys there, would need to fly to Albuquerque)
-Salt Lake City (SW flys but no nonstop out of Nola)

All of these places are more "Western" than Vegas, which I think you should experience if you're going out West.

It’s like someone else said: everyone wants to go to Texas to see cowboys, gunfights, and the “Old West”. The problem is that can’t be found in the big cities (if at all), and most certainly not in Austin (not a knock on Austin. It’s an awesome city).

I’m not even going to pretend I know a ton of local Texas lore and culture, but if I were going to place a bet on where to see the purest form of the old way it would be at rodeos/ranches in the High Plains and the like. Small towns, big hats, and maybe, just maybe, a true glimmer of what the old days were like.

I am using rally bus to get from New Orleans to the LSU game.

I am still not sure whether to stick with Vegas. I like the look of Seattle but it does not really fit in with my flights. I can’t get there direct from New Orleans with Southwest.

I have never thought of Denver before. Is it easy to get around or would you need a car?

Another one I have thought of is Nashville. The music part of the city is what interests me. It would also be another city in the south to visit other than New Orleans before going to California.

I will be there for 3 weeks but the cities I keep mulling over are Vegas, San Diego and Dallas. I can only really visit two of these.

Drop Dallas, that’s easy

Even though there were things in Dallas that interested me I have been put off it now.

I just don’t know whether to drop Vegas as well. If I go Vegas I am thinking of doing Grand Canyon on a day trip.
