This is an absolutely great thread. Any thoughts on best location of a hotel for two nights? Have a business meeting in providence at 10am then heading to Boston. Sox are out of town. Don’t need to go see anything in particular but just stroll and eat, drink, and be merry. Was looking at the Marriott or Westin in Copley Hill. However I am open to suggestions.

The only thing I'd add is Union Oyster House. While it isn't mind blowing food I found it interesting from a historical perspective.

The Long Wharf Marriott is a good bet. Also look at the Fairmont Copley.

I left off Union Oyster House because while it’s cool that it’s the oldest restaurant in the country, that’s about all it has to offer. The food isn’t very good and it’s frankly a huge tourist trap.

I get that and like I said I agree.

And I totally understand why you would mention it being included. Was just explaining my logic in leaving it off.

Ended up booking the Westin Copley Place... now time to book food reservations.

If you haven’t visited, BC’s campus is beautiful

We have not, only virtual tours online. Have you ever driven up there? I am considering driving from NOLA so that we can bring some of his stuff in a rental, rather than just taking what we can on a plane...

I've actually personally never made the drive, always flown. But my wife has done it twice.
If you aren't rushing to get there and can make some stops along the way, it's actually not a bad drive.
I would highly recommend not driving through NYC to get here, but rather go through upstate NY. The tolls on that first route are absolutely outrageous, and the traffic tends to be much worse. The drive through upstate NY is about the same time, but less traffic and a much more scenic drive.

Just seeing this, so welcome to Boston (or Providence, depending on where you are!)
If you have any questions while you're in town, please feel free to post them here and I'll keep an eye out. Weather is beautiful today, but supposed to rain tomorrow.

It is a long drive. We Katrina evac'd to Birmingham then when shite fell apart, drove up to Cape Cod where we have family. That drive sucked - pregnant wife, 2 little kids, a set of grandparents - took us two and a half days. Would not recommend.
That said, I love road trips, so it may have just been the post-K issue and all the bathroom stops for pregnant lady and kids. I made it back in a day and a half solo. West Virginia mountains were pretty.

Heading up to Boston next Thursday and plan on catching a Red Sox game Friday night. Are tickets pretty readily available outside the stadium, or is it worth the extra money pre-buying them online?
Thanks for the info

Yes you can find plenty of tickets outside the ballpark. But honestly, you’re better off just buying them online in advance. You won’t save much buying outside Fenway and then you don’t run the risk of scalpers.

Just wanted to say I loved Five Horses. I will go back on my next trip without a doubt.
