What are some of your favorite towns to visit/stay in Texas Hill Country? Looking for a good mix of scenery and things to do (hiking, watering holes, etc).

Lakeway! Affluent Austin Hill country with stunning lake views, and plenty of hiking/running trails.

Well.... Fredericksburg will be the answer from a lot of people. But it is mobbed with tourists. The good thing is you can walk anywhere on Main Street with a go cup. I like Boerne, Kerrville, Wimberley and Leakey.

Fredericksburg. You have wineries, enchanted rock, pacific war museum, good food etc. Stay at Hoffman Haus if you can.

First off, your vacationing in the Hill Country, so you are already winning, welcome to God's country. If you are a first timer, Fredricksburg is honestly the answer for most people, it is really centrally located for all the sites. After you have done Fredericksburg once, I would stay other places. Growing up we used to camp outside of Luckenbach. Now, I usually stay in Greene or New Braunfels because we like to stay a little longer and do stuff in San Antonio and Austin as well. My friend did it last year and did an AirBnB in Canyon Lake and had a great time, did all the Hill Country stuff and then rented a boat for one afternoon and just hung out on the lake.

I agree. That Canyon Lake area is hard to beat. 45 minutes away from anything you want

We looked for land in and around Blanco, which is right there. Real ale brewery is always a good stop

Enchanted Rock is awesome, you can scare the shite out of yourself out there. You don't need ropes...but one time we had them and my climbing line got wedged between two slabs...H L S. Never used that rope again.
