Is Companion Pass worth what it used to be? Seems easier to achieve these days.
They are currently running a promotion which ends in 3 days where you just need to spend $4k in 3 months and you get companion pass and 30k points.

Me and my wife did it on their card 2 years ago and it was worth it, we were in the market for some new furniture anyway so we hit the mark in a week. Flew 3 times that year for the price of 1 ticket each time. Worth it if you know you will be spending 4k soon

That's the kind of thing that can happen when you ruin Christmas for tens of thousands of people, canceling their flights and leaving them stranded in airports.
It's a sign that Southwest is still struggling to regain trust from flyers.

Ive found that the price of 1 southwest ticket was usually the price of 2 tickets from another carrier.

Exactly. My son was in Midway airport for 15 hours and finally arrived Dec23 without his checked bag. To this day the bag is still lost and their communication has been a different story each day. I was A+ companion for 12 years, I am over them and flying United now

Yeah I’m skeptical to continue to use them after the holiday debacle this past year. Although I’ve flown 3-4 times a year with SW the past 5-6 years and never had a single problem, delay, etc

you only get it for 1 calendar year now and only get 30k miles…used to be able to get it for the rest of the year earned + the whole next year and also you would have 110k + miles.

You can still get it that way -- just not through this specific credit card offer.

We fly about 5,000 SWA segments each year. It's fine.

No it's not. They offered something similar well before that debacle.

I've had companion pass for the last 8 years or so because of my company. Ny wife and I defintely got our money worth. Not as much anymore due to two young kids.

I earned companion pass twice doing that. The second time I did it I earned it in January 2020 so had 2020 and 2021. I was real proud of myself. Still mad

Depends on what your travel plans are. The CP offer is only for a year of CP, and 30K. The card frequently has an offer for 60K. So is your companion going to join for 30K (~$400) worth of flights this year?
The SW CP is different from most airlines where it's an unlimited number of flights as opposed to just a one time pass, so it's definitely great but you have to be able to use it.
The old fashioned way of reaching 135K points in a calendar year gets you CP for 23-24, but that can be a lot of points for most people, unless you get personal and business card or have large expense.
