First time skiers. Married couple mid 50s. Narrowed down to Snowmass, Steamboat, or Park City.
Recommendations?
Recommendations?

I’ve not been to snowmass or park city, but I would imagine that they couldn’t be much better than steamboat.

Been to all 3. Liked all 3.
What would you like to know?
What kind of vacation people are you? (Night life, active adventurers, relaxing vacationers, foodies?)
Frugal, lavish, convenience, road trips?
Actually have done a ski trip cost breakdown for a couple to each recently.
Happy to discuss here or via email..

Park City would probably be the best place to be if you decide you hate skiing on the first day

First time we skied was in Snowmass (2021) and second was in steamboat (2022) and are early 40’s. We liked them both and had great instructors at Snowmass. I would say Snowmass based on how they have their lessons set up. Get instruction for a few days and if you can, do private as the personal attention makes a big difference , we did their group lessons and they were great too - worked with each of us and mid-morning the instructors talked and shuffled people around to create similar skilled groupings. But, even with that I felt we had some wasted time in there.
As for all the other stuff outside of skiing, We had our kids with us and wanted to get into Aspen but didn’t make it - bus system is very easy to get around with.

We have been looking at these options as well for our family of 4 - first time for the kids (12,10)
There's a lot to like about Snowmass, but it is a 4 hour drive from DEN, whereas Park City and Steamboat are much less.
Just not sure if its worth the extra drive- especially heading back to the airport to come home?

Schedule lessons wherever you go. Choose a location with ample green terrain.

I wouldn’t say Steamboat is much less of a drive than Aspen - Aspen is about 3.25 hrs from Denver and Steamboat is about 2.75 hours without traffic. Both take 70 so no real difference in traffic either.
Park City at about 40 minutes from the AIRPORT is way more convenient than either.

Hayden and aspen are both airports that support steamboat and aspen, respectively.
I've driven from Denver to both and flown in.
Flying in is the way to go.
Unless you just have to see Colorado and want to drive.
Steamboat is great for families.
Aspen is better for adults. With snowmass being good for families and the best intermediate mountain of the 3 options (steamboat, park cut, snowmass).
Park city is a nice middle ground, but I worry that it has gotten so popular and crowded.

Fly in to Hayden for steamboat. It’s about a 30 minute drive with zero traffic.

Super easy to get around in town with the bus system.
You don't need a car.

When I went solo I took the shuttle and agree with the bus system. When I took my family it was cheaper (and more flexible as we did activities such as grizzle T, sleigh ride, etc..) to rent a vehicle.

You can fly directly into snowmass
One thing we liked about Snowmass is the lift tickets are good for all of the mountains in the area. We spent our last day at Buttermilk (bus ride, but was not bad at all) and had a great time, tons of green runs that had awesome views of the Rockies.

Flying into Aspen is worth every penny, can skip the rental car and just shuttle to where you are staying. The bus system there is amazing.

Went to PC this past Christmas. We already plan on going back December 2023.

First time older couple (I’m even older) I’d recommend Park City. Went in 2019 and going back next year. Very easy to get to from SLC; town is nice with plenty of places where you wont feel out of place if you’re over 30. Visit the Olympic training center and museum. Several good distilleries, including Park West. Try Aloha Ski Shop for rentals; they have a place right at the base and have free overnight storage.
