re: Sedona Trip BUMP trip update (no pics) and LONG
We booked the Pink Jeep Tour since we have young kids. It’s the most tourist thing that you can do but the kids had a great time on it.

Don’t park beside the highway while going to Devils Bridge. Try to get a spot in the actual parking lot. It will save you about a 1/2 mile or more walk depending how far down the road you park.

Agreed but my favorite was the West Fork hike - it goes through the canyons. Lots of fun.

Yeah, the West Fork trail of oak creek just north of Sedona would be my number one hiking suggestion as well.

As mentioned, you can do grand canyon as a day trip from Sedona, you won't need to overnight at the canyon.

I'd also agree with the suggestion for Cottonwood and Jerome. Good wine tasting fun in Cornville and Cottonwood. I might actually suggest seeing you if you can get hotel in Cottonwood for your last night since it would be midweek (they are generally booked out for the weekends), then you can crash there after the wineries/brewies.

I’m going for a spa weekend with a gf this month and we booked the Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa...it’s a Wyndham hotel. Never stayed there before but have had friends stay there and say they loved it.

Make time to see the Church in the rock. Really cool looking small Catholic Church built into the red rocks. Amazing views from there. I visit it a few times a year when I go to Sedona for a day trip because of the views.

I’ll be making a trip in August for a babymoon. Really excited.

I’m debating on renting a car from Phoenix or simply taking a shuttle. The concierge at my resort said Uber’s are next to impossible to get which is leading me to renting a car. Thoughts from those who have traveled recently?

AMAZING trip!!
Flew into Phoenix (car rental Sky Harbor = worst I have ever had. Waiting 1.5 hours in line to rent the jeep) Other than that we had a trip much better than expected.

Day One - Travel and check in VRBO home overlooking Oak Creek. visited Oak Creek, went shopping for groceries for the week.

Day Two - Up at dawn and checked out Broken Arrow, shopped in "downtown" Sedona ate average Tex/Mex lunch, went to the most beautiful Chapel of Holy Cross church in the mountain. Watch gorgeous sunset from the "Airport" area.

Day Three - Day trip to Grand Canyon (we have been there before) What can you say..just amazing. Went back to Flagstaff for the afternoon and ate ice cream in the square. Dinner late that night at Mariposa. One of the finest meals I gave had. The ambiance, service and the food = 5 Stars. Here are some pic...more to follow!

Outstanding view from Rental on Oak Creek

Oak Creek (Cold water!) itself

Please note the single cloud we saw all week! Sunset from Airport

Oak Creek Vista Overlook outside Flagstaff on the way to Grand Canyon

The Canyon is Grand!

Humphreys Peak - Highest elevation (12.635 ft) in Arizona on the way back to Flagstaff from GCNP.

Day Four - Relaxed in the early morning. and then we went to Jerome for lunch. Jerome Az was fun, just a fun ride up there, some great touristy shopping and a very good lunch at the Jerome Grande Hotel. Family loved this place.

Went back to oak creek to chill and had a nice dinner at home that night. Filet Mignon that had been marinating since Monday)

Day Five - Had a picnic at the Banjo Bill area on Oak Creek. The Banjo Bill picnic area on the Oak Creek Canyon road was our spot. Not to crowded and very beautiful and serene. That night, our last in Sedona, we had a marvelous dinner at Cucina Rustica. (Lisa Dahl - same chef as Mariposa) . Chef was at this restaurant that night and personally made my Caesar salad! The restaurant is now closed due to staffing shortages. That is sad but help wanted signs where everywhere in Arizona.

Day Six - Drove to Old Town Scottsdale and check int Hotel and them walked/shopped downtown and then had a really good dinner at the Mission Restaurant. Loved Scottsdale in the short time we were there.

Flew out the next day to Hot & HUMID Louisiana !

Jerome Grand Hotel at the top.

Did you use Uber/Lyft while in Sednona? I’m trying to determine if I should rent a car or just use the airport shuttle from Phoenix and ride share while in Sedona.

Lobster mashed potatoes from Mariposa. A meal in itself ...but this was just a side to my Chilean Seabass!

Need a car or preferably a jeep if you want to go on a trail.

1) It can be very hot during the day and you need AC like no other place you are close to the the sun there! It does cool down in the shade and at night but we saw no clouds to speak of.

2) Actually you have to drive all over to see the good stuff. We put 850 miles on our jeep during the week (250 of that was PHX to Sedona, 200 to the Grand Canyon, 60 to Jerome) so we rode about 300 miles within Sedona proper many of that up and down Oak Creek Canyon.

re: Sedona Trip BUMP trip update (no pics) and LONG
Much appreciated!

My wife will be 7 months pregnant for this trip so not looking to do too much hiking. Looking to get on with one of the guided tours to visit the various vortexes. But that doesn’t include the Oak Creek Canyon you’ve mentioned which I heard is a nice trip. We are staying at the Lauberge resort which has a lot of amenities on site. The resort also has a shuttle that takes you to any location within one mile (which includes Elote, Mariposa, and The Hudson).

I saw that place and yes it is on the middle of Sedona and there would be a lot to do within walking distance or a Uber. We had plans to drive to various places like Flagstaff, Jerom, GCNP and it would be easier if you had a car. Having a pregnant wife may alter your plans somewhat but you gonna have a blast. On the other hand she may love the fudge shop that is close to your resort.

Please don’t tell me you believe in all that hippy dippy shite

As for those tours....with a 7 month pregnant wife you may need to make sure it’s not a bumpy ride...many of the supposed “vortexes” are in remote areas. I’ve hiked to a supposed vortex. It doesn’t look any different at all. I only knew I was near it cause of all the people doing yoga by it.

ETA: you absolutely need a rental car

re: Sedona Trip BUMP trip update (no pics) and LONG
Thanks to all who responded. Our trip begins this Saturday. We've got a pretty good itinerary set up and I'm trying to finalize restaurant options (which has proven to be the most challenging part of this trip). Reservations are confirmed at Mariposa, I tried to get Elote on multiple occasions (including exactly 30 days prior) and they were booked solid...currently on wait list. Sadly, Cucina Rustica is closed since the 23rd of May due to labor shortages.

Any other (can't miss) dining options that haven't been mentioned in this thread?

Many thanks!~
